GT Legends

I ordered GT Legends last week from Sendit.com for the bargain price of £18.

A package arrived from them today, the description on the outside was game, the delivery note inside says GT legends, unfortunately the contents of the envelope is a DVD boxset of the X-Files [][][:(]

Words can't describe my disappointment [:(]

I ordered from sendit.com and received it without problems. Now playing it is another matter [:'(]

How do I know when I'm ready to play a multiplayer game?
Any circuit + car lap times I should be hitting?

The truth is out there ........

You're ready straight away Phil, it's not about the winning its the taking part [;)]

Rather than concentrating on lap times, concentrate on completing a 10 lap race without having a single spin or trip to the gravel. One spin will cost you 10 secs so its much better to be consistent and drive well within your best lap

In a Cooper I can do:

Anderstorp North 42 secs
Anderstorp South 41 secs
Donnington National 1:29
Mondello National 1:00
Dijon Short 40 secs

I tend to be in the public races a few times a week. I stick to the professional races because you can't use any driver aids and they are not as full of numpties who prefer to crash into you on purpose []

It's the one I have that was released especially for GT4. Driving Force Pro I think it's called.

Just compiling a christmas pressy list and doing a bit of research. I have found the driving force pro GT4 wheel http://www.driverheaven.net/reviews/driving%20force%20review/ but this and another website said the FF doesn't work on PCs. Logitech seem to prefer to sell you two wheels rather than provide some PC drivers.
Tony

FF works fine on GTR and GTL. I can't get the wheel to work at all on Toca Race Driver 2 and haven't tried it on anything older.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]I forget the driver I used (in fact I think Windows found it for itself) but it's the right one as it lets you decide how much of the 920 degrees or whatever of travel the wheel has that you want to use, and I think this is the only wheel that can do that.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Played the demo of this on a colleagues laptop the other night. Veeery impressive game [8D].

Managed a 46.0 in the Elan on the Dijon (Long GP) Circuit using the keyboard [&:] and came 2nd in a 3-lap race on "amatuer" mode, which I was pretty happy with.....Must be much nicer with a wheel though.

I hope you meant 1:46, or I am really rubbish [:-]

My best around Dijon GP in the Elan is 1:36 in Pro mode with all the driver aids off.

I give up if you did a 0:46 on keyboard [:D]

Fen,
logitech seems to have removed the drivers for the DFP from its website - a number of forums seem to have references to it but logitech seem to want you to buy 2 wheels.
When playing GTL the wheel is partially recognised (appears in left column of controller options but I have various options in the right with microsoft wheel being the only wheel).
I am not sure I am getting full functionality (lots better than the game pad though!). Driving off the track or running over a curb on GT4 the wheel tries to break your arm whereas on GTL it doesnt feel any different, however different cars do feel different in normal driving. Is this normal for GTL or shall I continue a search for drivers.
Tony

I have never had the wrist-snapping force feedback with GTL or GTR, so I think it's normal. You should get a fair bit of feedback though in terms of being able to feel what the car is doing.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]I don't believe I ever actually downloaded drivers as such, just let Windows go off and search for a suitable one and it made everything work. I think it's the game more than the driver because as I recall when you go to the game controllers applet in control panel and test the wheel it does all the test forces pretty convincingly.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

I dont get the option of testing forces in the control panel and I cant seem to persuade windows to update the driver. IIRC it comes up with a different logitech wheel.

On the wheel I have found 'select, r3, left paddle' gives 100% force feedback 'select, r3, right paddle' gives 900degree mode.

I also discovered ctrl + f in gtl puts the frame rate in the top right corner

Tony

I don't have the same wheel but even I have noticed that the FF effects are definitely less emphasized in GTL. Even with everything set to 100%

I had several great races with 10 other Pistonheaders last night [:D] I even won one. Hurry up and get it sorted Tony

Well done. A combination of "I forgot" and "my (gaming) PC won't boot" stopped me from actually doing anything about looking [:(][FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Well only managed 2 races but good fun. In the 2nd one I was following a certain Diver944 for about 4 laps very slowly closing in but running out of laps decided to get on it on the final lap closed to about 1/2 a second and spun out [:D] damn 2nd gear wheelspin.
New DFP drivers make a big difference but need to optimze the settings

Tony

Good to finally see you in there Tony. That's the first time I've tried the BMW CSL, very high revving engine and very slippy rear end. The race was a bit incidental, though we did manage several error free laps when you were following me (which is surprising as I spent most of my time watching you in the mirrors [:D])
