GT4 Versus 991 Carrera S

Ok - Ok - Ok ... The GT4 seams to be loosening up a little and starting to show some star qualities!

Out for a run yesterday and even my wife noticed the difference in the car since the last time she was in it for a B road run.

Everything seams to feel like it has more flexibility and bite - The engine seams more "Alive" as well as the chassis and suspension and even in Sport mode soaks up 4 dimensional B road conditions no problem. Yesterday was the hottest day we've had this year and the tyres and grip were just immense which allowed more exploitation of the Rev range! Even the exhaust and engine noise sounded more aggressive - so maybe the GT4 just needed some running in time ... I am now starting to love it ... ;)

Glad to hear you are now bonding and all this 991s being better will be put to bed!

Has for the engine feeling looser as the miles pile on I remember reading a long term test of a 996 many years ago and they put the car on the dyno at less than 2k and 20k and low and behold the car had more power at 20k!

I have run 4 new porsche engines in previously and notice they don't seem to really come alive/loosen up fully until after 5k miles on the clock and the gt4 engine does seem a little tight when new!

I dont know if there is any truth in the statement I heard over 25 years ago that a VW gti engine was never fully beded in until 60k on the clock!

My GT4 is def better now it's done a track day and 2.5k miles, these engine did seem tight !

GT4 v Panamera

That Giulia sure can pedal. Wouldn't have expected it to put in that sort of time, no matter how many horses it has. They must have had input from Ferrari to hone the chassis.

As for the Panamera, what a piece of engineering, That's a big, long wheelbase, heavy car to get through corners.

Horses for courses...

I just did 22k miles in a lovely 981 Cayman S PDK.

Last week I changed it for a car 2 years older...

I absolutely love it... Personal choice and it depends on your priorities but, wow, it ticks a lot of boxes for me...

Rob, If you read my earlier posts you will see that i had a 997 GTS before the GT4 and for the money the GTS is a great car ... doesn't feel as special as the GT4 inside, LWB's, roll cage etc ... but for £60k its a great car and wish i had kept mine, it was a PDK with Aero Kit and at Porsche Trip to Hotel de France and Le Mans last year it was the most talked about modern Porsche their, i loved the paddle shift nearly as much as the GT4 quick fire Manual shift ... The 991 GTS is better but another £30k - No brainer!

Guys ... another Run this week in GT4 and Yes, I love it ... Its a different class - amazing what difference 1k miles can make to a car ... ;) On a separate note - I took out an M2 for an afternoon - what a car with DCT its incredible and i would bet would give a GT4 on the track a serious run for its money ... So quick and sharp an M masterpiece and future M classic .... way better than 1M ;) If only it was limited Run it would be fantastic as i have one ordered for december but may sell as can't imagine 1M residuals ....?!

I've just bought my first Cayman (not GT4) after having many, many 911s and personally much prefer the balance of the Cayman. It is a perfectly balanced car and although the raw figures for the 911 are probably better, I'd suspect a trip from A to B will be faster in the GT4. Because of the handling.

I drive quite quickly on the road and always felt I was just about to die in all my 911s but not once in the Cayman......The exhaust sound is a really easy one to fix whatever model you have.....
