GTS 4.0

Yes, everything ordered is there. It seems there are frequent issues with supply. When mine was due to be built a few months back I had to deselect the LED headlights, but when it was delayed (again) the LEDs were available once more.

Re PPF, I would strongly recommend having what is called a Track Package installed. This consists of bumper, wings, side skirts, wing mirrors and the back of rear arches. Should cost around £1500. If your OPC offers it, chances are they will outsource it. Depending on where you live, try and find your own based on reviews on here and other forums. Ceramic coating, including a single stage polish, should cost around £600.

One thing to note and not be overly concerned about is that this engine will drink oil. I've just ticked over 6000 miles and have added about a litre of oil if not a tad more. Nothing to be overly concerned about, it's just a characteristic of the engine.

Tyres: I've said this before on another thread (maybe even this one), the PZ4s are not that bad. I've had PS4Ss on a previous Cayman and they were very good and now have PZ4s on the GTS. For me on fast roads, I really can't tell the difference. My only gripe is the rim protection on the rears, or lack of it. For this reason alone, I'll probably swap out the PZ4s for the PS4S however, some on Rennlist have been changing to the GT4 tyre sizes which gives an ideal amount of rim protection for not much more money. Not too sure why Porsche put so much stretch on the rears.

List price for that is £92932 plus first reg and delivery so about right however it's already registered and classed as used.

It'll sell if someone doesn't want to wait.

From my experience with the existing car will be following your advice on paint protection.

Noted on the oil. Glad to hear that you are getting some miles in.

Not had the opportunity to compare the tyres on the Porsche, but changed to the Michelins on my BMW and Audi. Huge improvement.

In Autocar a few weeks back there was a back to back of the 911GT3 and the Cup racer. Having looked at the pics I had to check the tyre specs. Yep those were 50 profile tyres on the racer..................

It doesn't shout BGTS for me though, although that may suit some people and probably specced to a value that may be hard to achieve in these times. Going to be interesting to see how long it hangs around or if the price gets dropped.

Quite a few coming to the market. Bolton have a lovely specced one in with PCCBs and bucket seats at a great price, but couldn't live with Python Green.

Leeds Shark Blue 😍😍, I would have flown back from my Spanish vacation and bought it, but it has the basic headlights not PDSLs and they were dreadful in my first Macan, so a deal breaker☹

I thought that about Python when I got mine, but we had no choice, it was the only new BGT 4.0 available to buy from a showroom anywhere in the UK. It was take the Python green one, or wait two years or buy used at overs. But now I love it; it gets compliments from strangers and passers by! (It can however look grim in photos)

The Bolton car is a funny spec though, buckets and PCCBs speak of serious performance intention but then its been specified with the -10mm comfort suspension setting? Makes no sense.

You're right, the standard headlights are dire. Porsche should be ashamed of fitting them

Actually I could live with Python Green, but my wife won't. Exeter's car is nice now it's been tarted up, but 10k and been thrashed...I know 🤐

The Bolton car, yes a bit odd with -10mm and I probably couldn't get out of the buckets.

Such a shame about the headlights on the Leeds one as Shark Blue seems to be the best colour for me although the wife thinks its boy racerish and wants GT Silver, as we have now, or Ice Grey Metallic. Not sure IGM is worth the extra over GT Silver though, is it going to look too similar🤔

You’re right.. they’re not great. Easy enough to upgrade the basic 25W to 35W though and that really does make a difference. Saying that, the LED PDSL+ I had in my Macan weren’t all that clever (the auto dip function was hopeless to say the least) - nowhere near as good in comparison with the Matrix lights offered on the 992, Panamera etc. I even had those in my Audi RS3 for goodness sakes!

I like the Shark Blue car at Leeds but I’d rather 18-way seats to be honest.

The Acid Green car at Cambridge looks rather nice though…

I absolutely love my LED PDSL+ in my Macan🤔

I have the 18 ways in my Macan and they are great but 2 way in my 98q which are very comfortable but in the Boxster you sit higher with 18 way and I would not get any benefit as the only real driver.

The Cambridge Acid Green is tempting but again the Wife says no☹

As Big Col correctly says the advice about running in is hidden in “same driving pleasure, more safety” in the Good to Know app. It is also on page 12 of the paper manual when you eventually receive it.

it states

In a new vehicle, the moving parts first have to be run in with each other. The first 3,000 km (1,865 miles) are required for this. The oil and fuel consumption may be somewhat higher than normal during this time.

Drive as follows during the running-in period:

Preferably take longer trips. If possible, avoid frequent cold starts with short distances.

Do not participate in motor racing events, sports driving schools, or similar.

Avoid high speeds of over 4,000 revolutions per minute. Drive at low speeds when the engine is cold.

It is important to note the advice to avoid short trips. Basically don’t do any journeys on which the oil doesn’t get to full temperature. It is also very important not to let the engine run too slowly.

It’s better to be spinning at 2,500 than trying to pull from low revs. In a PDK car this may well need you to use the gearbox manually to use a lower gear.

Some experts do consider that stay under 4,000 for the entire 1865 miles is over simplified and a ramping up regime is preferable, but ONLY starting once the car has travelled 1000 miles at less than 4,000rpm.

something like

up to 1000 miles 4000rpm

up to 1200 miles 5000 rpm

up to 1400 miles 6000 rpm

up to 1600 miles 7000 rpm

during this ramping up period the excursions beyond 4,000 should be brief. Sustained high rev running should wait until after the 1865 mark.

Enjoy your new car!

you will find out that you can still travel very quickly without using more than 4,000!

Apply yourself and get those 1865 miles done as quickly as possible.
I did out of interest make an enquiry about one of the cars currently for sale.

Let's just say it's a very low mileage car.

The video the salesperson sent me confirms it's a demo car and then involves him starting the car, showing me the instrument panel, water temp cold, oil cold. He then proceeds to rev the car up to 5,500 to let me hear the sound😡

I think it's put me off considering a demo car of this model!

I was under the impression it was a costly job to upgrade from 25w to 35w Xenons?

How right you were🤷‍♂️

It's gone, or maybe the original buyer who specced it found a better finance package than Porsche were offering them and decided to take it🤔

New cables were £30 from Porsche

New shunts were approx £100 from eBay

New D3S 35W Philips bulbs were approx £130 from Amazon

Labour to fit £100

Back on the OPC sales website!

Climate or aircon, which ever, I have had both, with climate you tend to leave it on so you get less mpg and less BHP

with AC you tend to turn it off, and only turn it on when needed so more mpg and more BHP to the wheels more of the time.

Once you know where to set the AC temp on manual AC it's fine over the climate option. Would I spec climate, yes for ease of resale, do I miss climate on my current car, nope, I like more mpg and more BHP :)

BOS is better then the standard, but the tweeters are ear pearhcing, but £150 buys you burmiser replacement tweeters and they are easy to swap out in 15 mins.

I have never speced auto dimming mirrors in 93 cars I hate them, I like the botton to flip the mirror if needed, auto dim mean you cannot see if the cars around you are police cars I found in one of my cars where it's standard, you have no clue who is behind you.\n
As with all options you buy what you want NEVER ask on a forum !! , or spec for resale if you want to move the car in a day at top money , or spec to save money it's totally personal hence why they are called options, the car drives the same at List price no options. I speced my GT3 for me plus resale so added many things I would not tick, my car was for sale about 20 seconds and never made any website and sold £5k above list, even though 30 were for sale, mine was the best spec one and thus sold same day. PS: I posted this I thought I was reading the last page but I was still on page one, forget every thing i said :)

An OPC that I had been talking to about a demo car they had, which wasn't the colour for me, called me this morning.

"Hi I have 2 BGTS 4.0s coming in March, they are just being shipped from the factory. You can have the choice of which one you want, we will keep the other as our demonstrator"

At what price over list I asked?

"No it's an unregistered cancelled order, it has to be at list price"

Well that being cheaper than any almost new demonstrator including theirs and significantly cheaper than the 1 owner cars that are obviously being flipped, I really started to take an interest.

It isn't my first choice of Shark Blue but maybe my second choice Arctic Grey.

The fact that it has Bose and LEDs, both of which seem fluid in their availability really ticked all my boxes.

A quick call to the OPC who I have my deposit down with, confirmed supply is being tightened up due to component shortages and that all indications now are that no or limited production after 2023 is likely. Also they are not getting the expected allocation 2nd qtr.

All this has swayed me and deposit paid😁

http://www.porschecode.com/PPSJZHI2

This means my beautiful 981S, with full OPC service history, 34,000 miles, Porsche warranty until March 2025 and pretty much every extra will be for sale when I return to the UK in April.
