As mentioned, 1800 or so miles however, something to note is that you're not just breaking in the engine, you're also breaking in the gearbox, suspension, brakes etc. Personally I followed the 1800 mile/4000rpm guide as per the manual however, I did vary the rpms up to 4000 trying to avoid stressing the engine at low rpms. Something to take note is that the engine will use oil during the break in period. For me, this settled at about 5000 miles but don't be surprised if you use a litre of oil in that time but you should have a bottle of oil given to you when you collect the car. Make sure you have it as it's part of the handover.

In all honest Olly, the 4.0 Boxster is a bit overkill for the road, the power delivery and torque are fantastic for a normally aspirated car.orly said:
If you are in a manual you are into licence losing speed before snicking the lever into third and the PDK is quicker to that speed, it is intoxicating though, have fun!

I originally specced Camine with a red roof. Then when I visited the dealer I saw a boxster with a red roof. As Big Col correctly says the advice about running in is hidden in “same driving pleasure, more safety” in the Good to Know app. It is also on page 12 of the paper manual when you eventually receive it.

In a new vehicle, the moving parts first have to be run in with each other. The first 3,000 km (1,865 miles) are required for this. The oil and fuel consumption may be somewhat higher than normal during this time.
Drive as follows during the running-in period:
▸Preferably take longer trips. If possible, avoid frequent cold starts with short distances.
▸Do not participate in motor racing events, sports driving schools, or similar.
▸Avoid high speeds of over 4,000 revolutions per minute. Drive at low speeds when the engine is cold.
It is important to note the advice to avoid short trips. Basically don’t do any journeys on which the oil doesn’t get to full temperature. It is also very important not to let the engine run too slowly.
It’s better to be spinning at 2,500 than trying to pull from low revs. In a PDK car this may well need you to use the gearbox manually to use a lower gear.
Some experts do consider that stay under 4,000 for the entire 1865 miles is over simplified and a ramping up regime is preferable, but ONLY starting once the car has travelled 1000 miles at less than 4,000rpm.

This looks a nice car, I would have been very tempted if it had the GTS interior rather than black leather.

Both of mine have had 3 allocated 1st qtr, but no cancellations☹
No updates other than there are 7 in the queue in front of my order but I’m not fussed as I am enjoying mine immensely - it‘s helping me to settle on my chosen spec should that day arrive at some point.
I had cruise control fitted the other day and the OPC loaned me a new Cayenne to waft around in around while that was being done - it was rather nice to be back in a powerful SUV for a short time I have to say !

Well, it was a long wait, but I'm very pleased. Did a nice long B road drive back from the dealer, and a total of about 90 miles yesterday. Love the engine, but very much looking forward to getting the miles on the clock and using the higher revs. Seeing my car was the first time I'd seen shark blue in the flesh and whilst I'm sure it's not for everyone, I really like it.
