It seems now to be classed as a modification. This first was highlighted a while ago when a 911 owner "supposedly" had a claim declined as he hadn't declared PPF. Aviva in particular seem to have a problem with PPF, I guess they believe it will cost them an additional amount to repair the car... crazy yes, but insurance companies will always try to find a way of declining a claim😡

 
Still quite a way off getting mine, but when I rang Admiral recently to cancel the policy on my 992 that I just sold pending the BGTS, I was asking about retaining the no claims given the gap in insurance. I also asked about PPF while I had them on the phone - they said they had no issue insuring the new car and would just record it against the policy. Don’t have a quote yet mind so hope I am not in for a shock!

There are posts on many forums re the issues that some insurers seem to have with it and declining to insure. If I had not read them I would not have thought twice about declaring it.

 
I have ended up with NFU. Double what I would have paid if I hadn't had ppf and gone with Aviva. A better contract and still slightly less than Admiral though.

Looks like I will pick mine up next week. Consequently there is a rather nice Silver 981 GTS in the for sale section.

 
So here's one for you 4.0 folk.

Have you noticed that your engine oil temps have reduced over the last couple of weeks?

Mine 'normally' runs at between 100-110 degrees depending on the type of driving however over the last week or so the temps have been fluctuating between 94 and 102 even after driving for over an hour. Water temps remain constant at 90.

I've spoken to my service guy at my OPC and he says nothing springs to mind but could be something to do with the weather we are having?? He also said as there are no warnings, it should be fine but if I do get any to take it in. Oil level is 1 notch from full.

The only thing I've done in the last week is fill the tank with fuel however, not with my usual Esso Supreme+ but with Tesco Momentum99.

Any thoughts?

I've been driving in France and Northern Spain the last few weeks and the opposite has happened with me (in non sport mode) - the oil temp has been around 114-115 dropping down to 107 in Sport mode. Water temp. constant at 90.

Same with me......nonsensical thing is I hear that Lockton's (who apparently use Aviva) do not have an issue with PPF.....



 
Local regional member has just had his 911 PPFd.

He hadn't heard of this issue and called his insurance company Admiral. They have charged him £9.00 extra for 8 months to fully cover the additional replacement cost of PPF.

 
Admiral seem to come in for a lot of stick on several forums. I have been with them for many years under a multi policy including house and contents. Admittedly I have not had a claim apart from a broken windscreen, so not sure how justified it is. As I say when I rang them recently the call handler was very good and said there was no problem with PPF. They also gave me a good quote and had no demand for a tracker etc when I insured the 992 last year.

I am going to give them a chance to quote this year for the BGTS 4.0 as I fear Saga will be much higher than previous years. Fortunately I locked in £168 for my Macan GTS for 3 years last renewal😁

 
Collected mine today from Porsche Preston. Similar spec to my 981. Just a little better in every detail!

The steering is probably the highlight.

Keith, I think once you have a few miles on it, the engine will be the highlight not the steering😁

 
My OPC is Preston, really good dealership to work with and we’ve been looked after well.

I was out for a spirited drive yesterday with a friend who has a tuned to approximately 600 BHP V8 FType and does quite a few track days in it. Interestingly he could not really pull away from me on the straights and I was only in Sports mode not Sports + and I could have given it a bit more. On the corners there was no comparison with how mine was riding vs his. His did sound the dogs danglies though.

He spent a lot of time in the restaurant car park going over mine as he was previously tempted by a BGTS 4.0 and now even more so.

Anyway Dan, my oil stayed at 106 degrees dropping to 102 as I pottered home.

 
I'm sure it may be the fuel but can't understand why?? Once I've used this tank of Momentum I put a tank of Supreme+ in and see what happens then. In honesty, I'd rather have an engine that runs a little cooler than too hot.

Evening, I sold my GTS 4.0 over a year ago and have massively regretted it since. I’m considering getting back

into one following the sale of my 997. I’ve found the following and wanted to gauge some opinions on whether it’s a sound deal in the current market. I haven’t really been looking over the last year and do place a lot of value in having effectively 3 years of warranty - and it’s almost the exact spec I had!
