Thanks Fen , Porsche had them in stock yeterday and they were ordered. From my quote I dont think there is going to be much in it, im looking at about £950 inc fitting and vat. When I collect the car I will get some photos of the damage on the cams and post them up. This may help the debate.

Your X-Type isn't very quick then? [FONT=arial"]Fen hides from S2 owners...
Thought I would add a post-script here to say that Fen was right all along. A weekend driving to the south coast and back in my S2 gained me a serious roasting from an M3 on the way down and something very nasty and japanese on the way back. [&o]
Maybe these S2's aren't that quick after all. Anyone care to buy one - baltic, linen, encyclopaedic service history, belts and pulleys just done, 3 owners from new ...

Take it on a track and buzz the engine right round to 6500 in every gear. I have to say after Saturday I love me S2 much more then I used to. After seeing many jap rally specials spend more time on the grass then the tarmac I have a different opinion on the S2's performance potential. After all you can do all the same things that you can do to a 968. Yes hot hatches are getting quicker but do you want to spend your time cornering with an extra armful of lock on to try and stop the understeer, whilst wasting the front tyres in no time at all? OK something like a last generation clio or integra import makes a lot of sense but if I had a new golf I would leave it on the road where it is in its element.
