Sad git!
I did exactly the same thing [] Switched it on, selected the Ruf Yellow Bird and selected the Ring.
9:01 was my first lap, 9:50 my second
I did a 10:39 "sighting" lap in the 106GTi then a 9:53 in the yellow bird. i think I need to learn it in something with a bit more grunt than the 106 but avoiding the bwaarp, bwaaarp, bwaaaarp, screeeee, bang of the Ruf.

You lot are a pain in the @rse, i dont have a PS2 but am sorly tempted.
Get yourself a mans game then like Grand Prix Legends for PC (under a fiver at Amazon), much harder, much more realistic and you can join the online championship racing every Tuesday night with other 944 owners (I've been trying to challenge these guys for years now [])
I have to admit I thought GT4 was going to have an online multiplayer mode, but I can find no mention of it in the manual []. If someone finds it, let me know and we can have an online Ring race

.....still running scared. []
Paul,
Are you saying that those of us with GPL need not bother with GT4 if our only interest is in The Ring?
As my PC is supposed to be for work I try and keep games off of it.

RUF TRB
had to switch it off again though, i was going blind and back to the DIY now (apart from this wee update of course)
TOCA race driver 2 is far better than GT4 from a switch on and play anytime game point of view, i did 84% in 2 weeks though and am stuck now. GT4 should have damage on it, it's too easy to go battering of barriers and then drive on, that's where TOCA RD2 wins it for me.
GT4 is going to take months of playing to master the tracks and new tracks, as it is a far more realistic driving game than TOCA RD2, just let down by no damage and no online gaming, although you can still link it up to other stations, or if you've got it modded you can trick it into thinking there is a network game in place and play almost online in different locations. Still think it's better to have your competion sitting in the same room so you can do the victory salute as you beat them []

I can see how this game could become seriously addictive. I love the rising wind noise that comes in about 80 and builds to a rumble over about 120. I am also amazed how realistic the sensation of speed is; 60 actually feels quite fast at some points and as for 160 that really does remind me of what it would be like to do such a speed on, say, the M62. If I'd ever done that which I haven't, of course. No.
Going to pick up a copy over the weekend and keen to try the 'ring. Does it have any other good tracks we may find at trackdays eg SPA. I have been using TOCA2 (PS1 game, pants graphics) for some of the UK tracks as TOCA Race Driver 1/2 have a limited number of UK circuits - great for a pre track day warm up! Nothing seems to have the likes of Goodwood, Castle Coombe, Bedford etc - unless you know different.
Might even get a new console - has anyone seen any good deals on a PS2/GT4 package with other games or steering wheel?
Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks
