I just drove the 'Ring in the Yellow Bird!

Hi Jim. Did you get that time in a stock gineta from the arcade menu?
Any way, good time. I must try harder!

Hi Simon.

Yes, around the third lap in it. Times were something like 9:45, 9:15, 9:09, 9:11, then it went pear shaped and I crashed badly (though I was running 2 secs quicker) and gave up. I found the ghost car very offputting - useless when you're in front of it, hugely distracting when it's just infront of you and causing you to crash trying to catch up with it when it's a long way in front [:'(] I'm going to switch off the ghost and try it sober (so pwobbly not tonight [8|]).

Cheers,

Jim.

Yeah I did a 9:35 with the Ginetta first time out. You really must be smooth as the 2nd time I just got into massive tank slappers everywhere!

Must try harder...

Can someone please tell me a cheat to Unlock LeMAns as I am not gonna play this game that much!

Renn Sport aka Dyno Soar on DDK

Dont know an LM cheat but found this on another page
Circuit de la Sarthe 1 Days Completed = 267
Circuit de la Sarthe 2 (Unchicaned) Days Complete = 351

It is quite satisfying when you are in front but otherwise it is a pain in the bum, particularly when you are at the same time at that point on the track.

I have to say that I've been doing my times without a wheel - we should get one in the next few days - and I have great hopes that this will bring my times down. It's not easy to be smooth when your only options are full throttle, no throttle or full brake.

Having laid down the challenge I haven't been back to The Ring as I'm tied up in career mode. 1st place in all races in the novice FF challenge is evading me currently and I don't know if I should carry on pouring money into tuning the Lupo or blow it out and go for something else!?!?[8|]

I had a try in the Ginetta for the first time today. Man that is a horrible handling car [] has anyone driven one in real life and can offer any comparisons.

I had to switch the driving aids on for the first time in weeks. Anyway, my best witha standard car on manual gears with aids on was 9:40 and lots of offs everywhere - must try harder []

WTF? Use the right hand joystick for accelerating and braking!

NO! I went used blue Toyota Supra twin turbo ('cos I used to have one) and it's now a 400bhp monster. I've won a Toyota RSC Rally Raid (worth 256,000cr), a Chevrolet Cien (790bhp MR super car) and a few assorted others.

You think? I kind of quite like it [:)]

Managed a quick lap or three after only a single glass tonight, best time 9:04.259 [:D] I can see where that last 5 secs is too...

It is easy to say, but not so easy to do. I find that I end up stiring both sticks.

Still, should have a steering wheel soon.

I agree on the Lupo - a usless heap of junk. Got a Honda CRX and threw a few bits at it - much better! I now also have a brand new Holden and a 2nd hand Scooby '02 WRX which seem to do the job. [:)] If only this was real life [:)]

Hi all.
John if you start driving using the right stick for accelerating and braking and still use the D pad, i think it's called,( the buttons anyway.) for steering you can get a much smoother drive without the old waggling the wrong stick syndrome.

I had a go at the 1000 miles race in the euro races section last night in my modified G4 you have to do 25 laps of the ring for the first race! fastest lap was 8.58 only did 5 laps then went to bed.

"It's not easy to be smooth when your only options are full throttle, no throttle or full brake. "

John, that's not true. PS2 controllers are touch sensititve / progressive, so you can accelerate or brake gently, it's not binary!!

Have fun....

I've just spent the last 3 days in Holland so just got a quick lap in the Ginetta for the first time since Wednesday. It's a relative pussycat with the newfangled driver aids on, although I still only managed a 10:28 and I guess if I had to say where the 1:30 to get down to 9:00 can come from the answer is "everywhere" []

The reason I was in Holland was to ensure the IT aspects of an office move went off smoothly. This is a picture of part of the "brainstorming room" in the new Breda office:

I tend to do it the other way round - using the left stick for steering and the right buttons for go and stop.

Damn clever these Japanees! I didn't realise that was the case but might explain why invollentary thumb crushing when tanking towards corners does seem to apply the brakes harder [8|]

I still haven't got back to the "Ginetta Ring Challenge" yet as I've been tied up in career mode. Having been cheesed off with wasting my money trying to tune a naff car I'm re-running the early beginners series to save up for a Ruf Boxster for the Mid engine challenge. It is getting a bit boring doing the Sunday series in a WRX Scooby, but at least you can sell the prize car at the end of it.

I did the Japanees Hatch series in a tuned Honda CRX though I'm not sure how that was allowed to compete - there's nothing like having a far quicker car to ensure a win (Also known as the Richard Chamberlin Theory). [:D]

Right! that's it I'm selling the playstation especialy that gran turismo game, it was a rubbish game anyway. did'nt like it from the moment i put it in that stupid waste of time, no fun at all machine! I think i'll take up yoga and buddism instead. In fact I think you lot should do the same, and then when you're all busy medatating I could get some sneaky practise in on the ring in the G4[:-]. I still have only to loose 2.5 seconds to wup yo sorry ass. Mr hotblack944. I'm not giving up that easily oh no!

I can so relate to that.

I remember when I used to go to bed before 2:00 am.

Oh yes! Still a bit ragged in places...

Forgot to mention that was with:
no driver aids
soft sports tyres
manual gearbox
half a bottle of red [:D]

Cheers,

Jim.
