Jager 944 LED Dash Kit Group Buy

Neil I think you should be able to swap the needles from another set of gauges, I know on my old VW they were held on by a couple of tiny screws. Sorry to hear about the difficulties you had with the install but thanks for the warning.

Nick as far as I am aware they should fit all oval dash 944's, I noticed that some of the packets were marked with the 928 details as theses kits also fit the 928 as well as the 944.

So who is going to provide a photo howto then?

I have managed to dent my dashboard in a few places getting the thing back in (which im gutted about as im anal as heck with suchlike) . It was horrendous but im sure those of you with a bit of skill will manage it ok.

Use a hairdryer and warm the damaged areas. In light of your lack of practical aptitude I'll emphasise that you need to let the tool do the work: warm it gently, otherwise youll do more damage. Aim to spend ten minutes at least gently warming up each damaged area. Theres a very good chance that all of the damage will disappear and if not, that itll be far less noticable. On the other hand: if you just turn it up to full and hold it therell youll melt the dashboard.....

Oh dear, sorry to hear that, you did take the steering wheel off first didn't you??

[:(][:(][:(][:(][:(]

As I managed to get it out ok without removing the wheel I figured that it should go back in without too much effort. Im a ****** idiot.

Please everybody, make sure you remove the wheel or you will regret it.

I will give that hairdryer thing a go tommorrow. I will see if i can bollox that up too.

BTW, if anyone gets stuck putting the new prism things in or bulbs feel free to pm me. To be honest this bit IS easy as long as you get the third bulb the correct way round (which was different to the instructions for me).

You have to actually break the 2 plastic tabs either side of each original prism to remove the old ones. I did it with a stanley knife. The replacements simply stick on.

NOT if youre careful. Try to do it as slowly as you possibly can: think 'slow bike riding competition'... I cant guarantee that the dents will come out, because I havent seen them, but they should. If theyre around the binnacle recess then youll need to remove the steering wheel to get to them. Youll need a 24mm socket and a short extension bar. The horn pad pulls off: some people struggle with that but itl be easiest if you pull one side and then the other. The wheel will easily puul off the splines now. When you re-tighten it, if you have a torque wrench, then tighten it to between 25-40 ft.-lbs (not too tight!).

Do watch out that you don't hit yourself in the face doing this. It has been known! [&o]

Money has been sent, Dave. Thanks again for organising this, I'll take pictures when I do mine but TBH it won't be for a few weeks as I'm very busy.

I have printed out a copy of Clarks excellent dash removal guide in prepartaion for doing this over the next few days [:D]
Once again, big thanks to Dave for organising all of this.

Thats why Ive suggested doing one side at a time. Pulling both can end in tears if you havent done it before... [:D]
