Nice job Paul

what are you going to use to prevent the Aluminium oxidising..? And the zinc for that matter[:)]

I was gonna just leave it in the garage.

On my previous projects I have used a matt lacquer over the alloy however when I was degreasing my front alloy wishbones before blasting they did appear to have some kind of coating on, possibly even silver paint which I would have doubted TBH.

I definitely think the underside alloy pieces need protection but needs to be non shiny.

The zinc will get the WD40 rag.

Cheers, Paul

I'm a fan of corrosion X Aviation I coated all my raw Ali parts it's a bit like wd40 it dull's the shine very slightly but 12 months on the parts look exactly as they did when I fited them......

I believe that it for untreated alloy Paul. Ken recommended it when he was the biggest re-passivating mentalist that I had ever seen ([:D]) and I committed it to memory. Id like to find out which is best (or if both actually do what I thought) now that you have suggested an alternative.

Bu99er! I mustve misread the original post (Googled Polytrol. searched for suppliers, saved links etc).

Work continues.....

Edit*

Slight setback, I had my doubts about the oil pump drive sleeve, the original had a wear mark from the oil seal, the replacement was a superseded part number and although it fitted I had a feeling it wasn't right.

Sure enough on checking with my OPC the superseded part was for the earlier models, there is a different superseded part for later pumps. However after a bit of online digging I found a NOS original sleeve in the Netherlands.

Glad I followed my hunch and found the issue at this point.

So Photobucket has shafted everyone on every forum, all 'free' photos have gone.

Guess that's the end of this thread.

Facebook is the future I'm afraid.

I've always paid the £2 per month, it seems reasonable to me

if you want to use my account I'll give you access .........I want to see the finished result
