You can protect the bare alloy using a product called Polytrol.

The Steel fittings are thinly Plated, the Aluminium Filter will corrode in time and would benefit from painting or an application

of ACF-50

On new metal ACF-50 forms a self-healing barrier that prevents corrosion from starting. ACF-50 remains physically and chemically effective for up to two years.

Is the Polytrol product you refer the "Colour restorer" Penetrating Oil?

I used corrosion X on all the ALI parts that were not painted ,,,also used on all the zinc plated bits so they keep the colour

nice work[:)]

Looking forward to the next bit and seeing it sometime, Silverstone????

Thanks Mike, nice and tidy again.

Work has been continuing, nothing shiny to show just now but took something out to give it a good clean.....here's a clue [:D]

I've just read this from start to finish and it's amazing the results you are getting are brilliant I picked up my first 944 last year as a project with my dad and we are in the process of stripping parts and having them refinished before they go back onto the car with new fixings and clips

Hi Danny,

Would love to see some pictures of progress of your car.

Please feel free to start a thread for it

Cheers

Mike
