The alloy arms are currently in their raw state after vapour blasting but I may lacquer them, on previous projects I have left them raw but they do mark easily.

As for the bushes I haven't decided, standard bushes from OPC are expensive but I'm not a great fan of poly bushes either.

This morning was spent steam cleaning the rear floor area, not fun.

I've never been sure if the arms must of had something on them from new? because they will oxidise and go scabby with damp and water etc..

I tried to fit Rubber Bushes in them, but even with a press could not get them to fit and I may still have them in stock somewhere! I had to

fit the only Powerflex bush on the car for these as they come in two pieces.

For the Torque tube / spring plates, I splashed out on Elephant Racing (USA) Poly Bronze Bushes.

I think the arms are bare from the factory, not sure even Porsche would bother to paint alloy castings.

I am trying to keep the car standard'ish , with the exception of the Bilstein suspension, so I'll be using this kit for the spring plates.

Yes Porsche never painted these, neither did it the front aluminium wishbones, but these must be covered with some sort of anti corrosive coating?

The more I think about it, they must have something on them. Every other exposed to the elements piece of metal

steel or aluminium is covered otherwise they will rust & corrode. Just like the NEw Spring plates your buying they have a

plating to stop them rusting and I'm sure when Hartech refurbish the front wishbones with new balljoints the arms are painted.

A clear anodise would be good, but probably not cheap and not many places do anodising in the UK.

Even an Aerosol tin of clear lacquer would be better than nothing, have they been glass or water blasted? only the glass/ grit

media makes them dull and water gives them a sheen.

A few of my previous restorations, there's been quite a few, I'm not new to the spanner's .....

I'll be aiming to equal these if not better with the current 944

My last 944S2, a nice genuine car that just had a deep deep clean

Another few hours under the back end today, surprising how much black spray there is in various area, I guess to fool the eye a bit and disguise low parts of the body ?

Some of the marks are where the plastic fuel tank is a neat fit.

I think that's as clean as it will get without resorting to repainting it, I prefer the originality, plus the tank hides most of it.

I know Mr Ruddy very well and this will be another Kingsdoken thread, speaking of which he seems to have gone into hibernat.

still watching, house build has taken priority .....will be back on the car in June

great thread [:)]

Following! I'm aiming for the same result with mine but with upgrades. Looks really good so far, keep up with the good work *Thumbs Up*

Been busy cleaning the fuel tank, the underside had a good coat of the factory wax sprayed over it that took some removing.

When doing restorations it's always nice to find factory markings on things, the tank had splashes of yellow in various places, usually an indication on the production line that something has been completed, also nice to find some handwriting, I cleaned the tank with the full intention of retaining these markings.

The return line from the solid pipe to the top of the tank is NLA so I had a local hydraulics firm make up a near identical one.....at a fraction of OPC price.

The straps and pump cradle are at the powder coaters , hopefully get this refitted shortly as it takes up a bit of space storing it out of the car.

For the eagle eyed I have new clips on order for the ally heat shield pad.

Al the best, Paul

So the rest of the exhaust off today and the torque tube, fuel pipes off hopfully tomorrow and then continue working forwards cleaning with my sponge and nail brush

Amazing! Shell is in lovely condition. My chassis rails bear the scars of years of unsympathetic jacking. What sort of steam cleaner do you use?

I bought a cheap little hand held steam cleaner, it's better for cleaning little pieces that have been taken off, the floorpans have been cleaned with a nail brush and sponge .....

Been working on these bits...

Although the old pump was working fine I think it makes sense to fit a new one at this time, can someone confirm the route of the pump wiring as I'm pretty sure mine had been routed incorrectly.
