Just found this car

Hacki the factory ran out of RSRs for the race teams that wanted to buy them. 986RSTurbos were offered to some of these teams for ADAC championship.

It is possible they took a Cup shell and added a RSR engine. Ask for the VIN and it will probably be a CUP shell with added turbo wings and a RSR engine.

Funny as Jasons car has an original RSR shell and I heard of a guy who crashed his M003 and rebuild it in a RSR shell. So you could obviously buy them and build what you liked.

Hmmm.. A 1991 shell... Probably more a cup with RSR specs than a proper factory RSR. There are a few of properly transformed CUP to RSR specs out there (Tom had a nice red one for sale for a while).

But 120,000 euros?? In the owner's dreams!

Best would be to get the VIN to sort out the mystery.

If you want a good RSR, buy my former car from Sean Lockyear.

I think the cup and RSR base shells are exactly the same - it is how they are built from then on that separates the two.

A number of the race teams were able to purchase additional shells to build as spare cars for while racing. Mine was the additional shell sold to Destree Motorsports as confirmed by Porsche Motorsport and I have the original receipt!

Interestingly Wolfgang Destree emailed me today and they are going to pull out as much info and pics and stories as they can for me....which was nice [:D]

Jason, I think thats more than nice!! One day its that provinence that will become very important. What a nice chap!

What was really nice was that Wolfgangs english is not very good (albeit a billion x better than my German no doubt!) so he got his friend Bernd Becker to translate for him and get in touch with me.

Bernd is a good friend of David Pipers and still races today but famously raced his personal 910 at LeMans, Spa the Ring etc in 1973.

Quick look at piccie - not running centre locks; side repeaters in front wings, no air jack valve on scuttle nor electric cut-off / extinguisher pulls on scuttle, so chances are it is a cuppie shell with some RSR mechanicals.

I believe the red one that Phil is talking about was for sale at Classic LeMans last year. This was being marketed as an RSR. Think I've seen it on for sale on the web again recently, will try to remember where.

Jason, you did well with your motor.

I'm not as stupid as I look[:D]

Once it is stripped and rebuilt back to close on factory RSR spec with all correct steel wings etc etc etc and Mr Destree gets me some stuff then it should be a nice mint little car.

Thats if I can afford it of course which is a whole different ball game.

You never know I might even get to see it one day......never seen it yet!!!![]

Need to sell the 964RS first.....which will be easier if I stop turning down every offer just because I really want to keep it[&o][&o][&o]

It must be torture for you Jason not being able to see it let alone drive it! ...the Jenna J analogy springs to mind once again! Must say I can't wait to see it myself!
What is wrong with the DP arches on it Jason? Are they too wide?!
[:-]

Its not too bad tbh i do this kind of thing quite a lot! The RSR I bought in the USA was 10 months until I actually drove it after sending the money. The 67S I have being refurbed at the mo has probably been 6 months and not driven that yet either!

I'm a bit weird like that. I'm also watch nuts and have quite a large collection but I can get a watch I've been after for some time and it will sit on my desk for a week until I open it....time has to be just right to enjoy it. That said I have one at the moment I got over a week ago and I've just remembered I've no idea where I put it.........best go and try and find it..... [&:]

Blimey Jason , I think you've caught Goff flu ! All the symptoms are there ....collecting Porsches ....doing them up.....trying to sell them but not trying too hard....lots of posting on the forums...

Anyways , hope you get a bit better and just make time to blow money on trackdays and collect stone chips and duelling scars and spend more money on tyres , brakes , moving parts. Use dem cars up [:D]

PS I dont know what offers you have turned down for your 964RS but all roads lead to Schmitt who will have his cut......so why not lay back and enjoy it [;)]

They will get plenty of track time as usual Jon don't worry! Not had so much this year but been busy getting away from work and then been away for 6 weeks. Probably will tour Europe in August with kids and then doing the PEYT tour in September with Chris coming over from Seattle to join me, but July has lots of events pencilled in Porsche wise!

Had offers of £45k, £48k and £50k if people are interested. A couple of those could have been dealers too. Hey ho I may get less in the long run but as of now my baby is still sitting in the garage....and thats where I like it for now[:D]

Jurgen Alzen was kind enough to reply to my email, however his resonse was rather brief. Sounds like you have been lucky with these guys Jason. Nice isn't it when people make such an effort.

Jason, thats quite a collection and an odd way of runnning it. I guess its like you said, you need to find the right time to enjoy it. The 67S sounds like a good little car, I think the early cars are quite a treat in terms of sensensation of speed and feel.

Some things aren't planned and I just move quick on them. The 67S wasn't, but then I was going to keep it, then work meant I was really going to sell and in preparing for sale we have ended up doing way more work (as is usual) than expected...but its worth it as its so rare.

The 64RSR wasn't planned either but i'm very pleased I did it.

When the 64RS sells and the 67S sells we will be down to the 73RSR and 64RSR which will be more manageable[:D]

Until of course........[;)]

you certainly live by the strap line!!!

[:D]

The last post is almost amusing to read for mere mortals! [:D]
