How does the RSR fair on the road Ben? Will you retire it for road use only?
...sorry for being so nosey Ben but the RSR wins the top trumps for me!

No worries Matt. Although I have the original struts and springs, my car actually runs with some aftermarket jobbies with remote reservoirs so I can't actually describe to you what it is like to run stock. I can't imagine that it would be any stiffer though !!

Given that I've driven to and from Spa in the RSR for the last two years I can give you a pretty fair impression of what it is like - it is just full on !! Any imperfection in the road surface you feel or the car follows. As with all of our cars you've just got to let it go where it wants at the point in time - relaxed steering inputs, no fighting the wheel.
It skips and jumps over expansion joints like you wouldn't believe which makes travelling along some wet Belgian autoroutes at speed interesting.

RSR clutch will give you a left calf that Arnie would be prould of, if you are mad enough to drive it in heavy traffic. I've done it once, through necessity, not desire and it really is no fun - just pure stress.

Mine pops and bangs on the over-run which is due to the un-burnt fuel mixture getting caught in the cans that add a modicum of silencing so it is not exactly subtle when travelling along the road. I do have the straight thru's which really must get an outing at some point. Phil ran these on his RSR when he had it - sounds glorious.

On a short journey I've never worn earplugs as you just want to bask in that heavenly noise - on a long journey you really need them to stop the fatigue setting in and to prevent the blood pouring out of your ears.

Retire the car from the track - nah, that would be sacrilige [:)]

...It all sounds like heaven to me Ben! Thanks for sharing that with us!
Out of interest, does the RSR have power steering?

Ben and Phil, thanks for these insights to your cars, and thanks most of all for sharing the feeling.

I agree with Matt, the 964RSR is the car that really pulls at my heart strings, but Hacki, don't discount the GT3.

My Mk 1 CS is intriguingly inoxiating.

Does that mean I'll need to bring it to Spa next year ?

Will you let me take you for a ride in it [;)]

Or come join me at some UK track meeting ?

After the Silverstone classic ? [;)]

This Mk1 is my third ... and it is very sweet.

Seriously hope it doesn't prove to be a boiler [:D]

You must hold the record on here Chris for the most Porsches owned over the last 10 years![;)]
...I must add that Chris is such a modest chap and never ever feels the need to brag about his car collection. That is so not his style!
Chris, you are the ultimate Porsche addict?! [:D] [:)] ....can't fault you my friend! Looking forward to seeing the Mk1...I've only ever been in a Mk2.

Thanks Matt,

Until I've owned them, I really don't know what they are like to live with.

And buying and selling privately, the work I do tidying them up generally doesn't cost me much ...

Well, much less than the cost of buying a new one [:)]
