M3 - Decisions, decisions.........

Don't do it. I had an M3 (the last model) and whilst it is a great car to drive the experience doesn't compare to the 911 (let alone the finish, the interior, the kudos etc). Every report I have read says the new model is way too soft at present and disappoints genuine BMW enthusiasts so what chance a Porsche driver. I hit 9 points whilst I owned the M3 (obviously not the M3's fault) but once I was constrained ( for nearly 18 months) to extra careful driving I began to look at the M3 for what it was - it was just another BMW indistinguishable to the untrained eye from the extrodinary number of ordinary BMW's on the road. So, if it is not a better drive than the 911, why drive around in a sales reps car ? (all IMHO of course). Your choice at the end of the day.

Biased answer of course but I can't begin to understand why would anyone even consider swapping a 997 for a M3.

I totally agree. If you buy an M3 you will be gaining what, exactly?

Good call.........sort of, certainly stylish. However, I do think the new Gran Turismo looks absolutely stunning, although the reviews have said it's quite soft and doesn't feel as quick as the stats would suggest. Now maybe if they did a lightweight version with a clutchless manual, that would be another kettle of fish altogether!

Things getting more complicated as the missus wants me to get another 911 (convertible, GT3?). And this is from the woman who complains she gets too much unwanted male attention when she drives the one I've got!

Re: buying from a dealer for security........like I said before FPSH, get a HPI check, get a valet, buy a warranty and after all that, still save yourself £5k. No brainer if you ask me, but then I am a humble "salary man".

Cancelled my M3 order yesterday. Heart wasn't in it.

Reckon I'm going to be tied to 911's for a long time yet.........going to keep mine for a few months more, maybe a year, then maybe get a facelift, or a GT3, I don't know. I'm not usually indecisive but it's really difficult to know where to go after a 997S.

So you'll have to put up with my spurts of rambling for a bit longer yet I'm afraid.

after all that eh![;)]
Its a substantial sum of money if your hearts not in it..

Hopefully we can put up with for a while longer [:)][;)]
