My 2022 Cayman GTS

Looking good Dan … time to get driving! 😀

AG always looks like dark grey to me in the pics, but I assume the green tint becomes more prominent in the flesh and the right lighting?

Incidentally your advert for the grilles has found its way into the Boxster section … a mistake?

Jeff

Hi Jeff

i agree. In low light it does look like Agate but my chum from round the corner has an Agate Boxster and when they’re parked next to each other they do look so different, even in said low light.

Re the grills, I put a small post in there as well as they fit the Boxster as well.

Dan.

Some therapeutic exhaust cleaning today. Better but not quite there yet

So car was dropped off at Staffordshire Car Care for PPF and ceramic yesterday. I was extremely cautious whilst driving down the M6 and keeping a good distance from vehicles in front. I really didn't want to pick up a stone chip....can you imagine! I have asked the guys there to do a video on the process so lets see if they have the time as they were a bit busy when I dropped it off. If anyone is interested, they are now taking bookings for May at the earliest.

The drive down was lovely. Not pushing hard as I'm keen to stay below the 4000 rpm limit for 1800 miles, but the engine really does want to rev and the sound.... wow. I'm really looking forward to Friday when I can get it home, fit the Zunsport grills and drive it.

I'm pleased to report that on the 70 mile trip there are no squeaks or rattles and the ride on SPASM is very good.

Dan

Car collected from Staffordshire Car Care yesterday after having PPF and ceramic coatings applied to the Paintwork, glass, wheels and black plastics. I can't recommend Craig and his team enough. They really are brilliant and their after sales second to none.

A couple of photos of the finished article but there is a YouTube video on its way soon so I wont spoil it too much.

Absolutely gleaming Dan.

I've had both my 718 Caymans treated with Gyeon ceramic products in the past. Always impressed with the longevity of the shine and the water beading.

Brian

Zunsport grills added today and I must say they are a pretty good fit compared to the Zunsport grills for the Base Cayman, oh and my vinyl number plate was also added but it's a shame to have to put it on and spoil the look.

750 miles in up to now and things are going nicely. Like Ralph, I had a moment the first time I turned the AC on as I thought it wasn't working properly and had a damaged condenser however a couple of minutes on MAX AC and it now blows nice and cold.

No squeaks or rattles but I did notice the dash cam has a serious affect on the DAB radio so a couple of ferrite cores on the wiring sorted this out.

Second fill up the other day with Tesco's finest Momentum and I'm getting about 400-430 miles out of the 64ltr tank. The downside to the larger tank however is the dread when you get the 'click' when the pump stops at £99!! A friend suggested using Costco Premium unleaded as it's more or less the same as Shell V-Power just without the cleaning agents. A little research on this later as Costco fuel is currently a little cheaper than Momentum if only by a couple of pence but about 10p cheaper than Shell itself. Esso Supreme+ is still expensive even with the club card at almost £1.70 a litre, near me anyway.

2 washes after PPF and ceramic fitting and all is well. It will need to go back into Staffordshire Care Care after its 3rd wash for a free checkup where they assess the PPF and ceramic for fitting/failure and adjust or replace as needed.

One thing I have noticed is how quickly this car build up speed. Quite easily and with little effort, you're pushing the speed limit so a conscious eye on the speedo is required and as a result it makes trying to stretch its legs a little difficult. Long gearing for you I suppose. Noise levels are quite good. The Pirellis are definitely quieter than the Michellins and the exhaust note is not that intrusive if the valves are closed.

The amount of people that comment on the colour is quite suprising. Some think it's grey until they get close and they definitely prefer the silver wheels with Aventurine Green rather than black wheels.

Dan

I've run Costco fuel since new and am now 6 years in. Initially their high octane 99 Ron, now 97 Ron and has been for some time and very happy with how the car performs. Mine is the 3.4 engine btw.

Dan, Irrespective of the supplier the base fuel will be the same - main brand or supermarket - the only difference being the additives which are included at the tanker collection point; the supermarkets have their own additive blend. Where possible I’ve always used main brand fuel, but then my CS isn’t a daily drive and is by choice insurance limited to 3k miles a year so fuel costs aren’t a major consideration for me. You need to sit down and work out the true overall yearly cost of running your CGTS including finance, road tax, insurance, servicing, oil top-up and tyres as well as fuel. I’m sure that you’ll find that as a percentage, the incremental cost of using branded fuel is actually quite small. Good to hear that all’s going well ownership-wise … despite the minor a/c glitch! Jeff
