New 944 Owner

Logie,

Don't get too carried away with that power figure, I have never known a n/a 2.5 give anything like 220hp.........the racing guys are well short of that.

The most i've heard an S2 get is 240-odd bhp from its std 211bhp after very substantial (and no doubt costly) mods that included core engine hardware upgrades.

Gave her a clean today and got my first drive of her. Great driving position! Love it

Got 2 months now to sort out niggely little problems. Just wondered if anyone knew the parts numbers for the bonnet lifters (Things that keep the bonnet up) and the sunroof. Need to get hold of the mechenism that the slider sits in. Think some teeth have gone as the slider which pushes the sunroof up and down seems to skip and wont keep level with the drivers side!

Looks like a tidy car Logie. The bonnet struts can be purchased via Ebay brand new from a guy whose name escapes me right now. He constantly has his products for sale on there.

Have a search here and you'll find his details on a previous thread. I bought a pair of hatch struts from him for circa £9 each and they are fine. Think the bonnet struts are the same price.

Beaten to it!

Not another one, look would engineers stop buying 944's. With a 944 and a Saab parked outside my house it is a dead give away what I do for a living.

Hello btw and welcome to the group.

Hmmm, just re read my post and I seem to have come across a little arrogant and for that I appologise. I don't mean to be but running this car on a budget, being able to save 150 to 200 quid on a job that I know I'm perfectly capable of seems like common sense to me. I can get a full set of belts and rollers for 200 quid, just to change the belts alone I would have to pay an indy 250. No contest! So anyone seen or used an arnnworks tool?
btw if I do have one sent over the opportunity would be there for others to borrow it.
cheers and thanks for the welcome!

Welcome to the forum [:)]

We've seen plenty of talk about the Arnworx and it does seem to work, but not used it myself. Club members are able to borrow the official Porsche tensioner from club office

I don't think Neil was taking offence to your first post - more that he's identifying with you.

You engineers.... [8|]

Yes I know about the club tensioner (and yes I will be joining) but having once used it with new belts you then have to check it again after 2000 miles ish. Just thought having my own would make life a little easier. Thanks for the welcome guys. I'll put a couple of pics of the car up later for you to see. It's a very nice '97 Alpine white 944S, no sunroof, black leather seats in v.good nick, original toolkit, owners manual, service book etc... and the clock still works!!!

Dont know of anyone using the arnworx tool - looks good on his site, let us know how you get on,
Tony
