New Car due March - Ceramic Coating?

I had my GT3 back today following having the front end paint protection filmed, bonnet, bumper, mirrors and wings along with Gtechniq ceramic coatings to all other exterior surfaces. What better way to protect your car.

As a new member I enquired on the forum a while ago about the Gtechniq application in the South West. Adam from Revolution Detailing was recommended by tscaptain, p webb and Lancerlot. After collecting our Carmine Red GTS today from Adam, I now know why he is so highly rated. Apart from being a really nice chap, his detailing work exceeds anything I have ever seen. So this is a big thank you to you gentleman for a great recommendation, and in future I will do the same.

Pleased you're happy! A photo or two would be nice too.[:)]

I would echo most of the replies you have received as I also got Gtech treatment carried out after picking up my second hand 991 C2S Cab from the OPC in Tonbridge last year. I opted for treatment which included:
  • [FONT=calibri"]Single stage polish[FONT=verdana,geneva"]
  • [FONT=calibri"]Crystal Serum Light + exo to paint[FONT=verdana,geneva"]
  • [FONT=calibri"]Roof protected[FONT=verdana,geneva"]
  • [FONT=calibri"]Interior protected[FONT=verdana,geneva"]
  • [FONT=calibri"]Wheels removed and coated inside and out + brake calipers[FONT=verdana, geneva"]
  • [FONT=calibri"]Windows[FONT=verdana,geneva"]
[FONT=calibri"]This came to £900 from our local GTECH specialist in Aldershot.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

[FONT=calibri"]As with others, I would recommend the treatment as it does make washing the car much easier, but one issue I came across is the windscreen treatment perished for some reason and I found it increasingly hard to keep it smear free. This meant that I recently had to take it back to the dealer and chose to take the covering off the windscreen. [FONT=verdana, geneva"]

[FONT=calibri"]Because windows are not covered by the Gtech guarantee, I had to pay £50 for this to cover the cost of the labour involved, which I obviously was not too chuffed about. The dealer indicated that whilst rare, he had known this to happen on other cars and the fault had been put down to screen wash which seemed to me to be pretty difficult to avoid, if this indeed was the case.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

[FONT=calibri"]Not sure whether anyone else has experienced this issue..[FONT=verdana,geneva"]

I have heard of other customers who have had issues with the Gtechniq windscreen treatment.

I'll be getting my new Carrera T detailed with Gtechniq, paintwork & wheels, but I won't get the windows done.

Hi all
Coming up to one year's glorious ownership. I had PPF applied to bonnet, front and sills and a Ceramic coating applied with Exo on top. Do I need a refresh? Still looks good I think (picture taken a couple of months ago).

Hi Ellis,
Your photo was little too big to appear in the post, so I've edited it down a little so that it shows.
I believe Gtechniq recommend an annual service to preserve their warranty.
Regards,

Clive

I put in the wrong picture. Hopefully the right one is in now. Hope it shows up OK. Thanks for the advice Clive. I'll follow up.
Best

Ceramic coatings are a great way to give any paint, especially fresh, some lasting protection. It wont protect against chips but is does help dirt to run off the car as the smooth surface offers less of a surface for grime to stick to - thats why they look so clean after a good wash. For chip protection, PPF is really the only way to go - especially the newer self healing films such as Expel.

First time post on here: I'm lucky enough to have just took delivery of a new 911 T and had my local OPC in Exeter put Gtechniq on it pre-delivery. Cost was around £1,000 but in my opinion (having had 6 previous 911's from new, all with various pre-delivery products applied at OPC's) the Gtechniq after a few weeks, hand washes and probably the wettest two weeks in Devon I can remember is fantastic. Quick wash yesterday in the sunshine and the 911 looks brilliant. Living on the coast and with almost constant concerns over sea spray and seagulls I regarded it as an absolute must to protect my investment.

There is also a very good one In Penarth (South Wales), had my bodywork and wheels done for £750 including Vat.
regards

Pete

Mine was done just before Christmas and was the all singing, all dancing GTechniq Crystal Serum Ultra with Exo on top. Comes with a 9 year guarantee. It took the best part of a week on a new car but as you say the finish is first class and the cost is a small percentage of the new price of the car.

What it can't prevent is scratches or chips though it is a tough coating. It does make maintenance easy, and our three year old Cayenne has had a hard life and still comes up like new with a quick wash. Well worth it IMO.

Congratulations on your choice of car btw.

If you're based anywhere near the Bristol area we can recommend an excellent authorised detailer and the price would be less than your quoted figure (not a lot...!)

Hi Peter, I live in Bristol and would be grateful for the details of authorised detailer near here.
many thanks
Stan

Hi Folks,

A fairly old post I realise but it still seems to be a hot topic .... and I could use some help.

I am considering having Gtechniq treatment on a new Macan (delivery imminent) and while the local Gtechniq agent is quoting significantly less than the dealer for seemingly the same job I was surprised that this is a mobile service and could/would be done in the open - or possibly my garage at best. Given the process and the cost I would have thought some kind of controlled environment would be needed afterall a bit of a breeze and surely they will be rubbing dust into the shiny new paint?

All feedback most welcome.
