New Carrera T Order

Fantastic!

Hope it all goes well in the morning. Am sure you will love the car.

Thanks, Rob! [:)]

I welcome suggestions on the best method of sharing photos on here. (Now requires the use of some kind of third party photo sharing/storing website?)

It's as you suggest - just use a third party host that you are comfortable with.

I used to use photobucket but then they started charging and my photographs stopped being visible on forums.

I just tried Flickr but that only seems to work for the purposes of providing a link rather than displaying the pictures but I've not really tried it out properly yet.

I think imgur is quite popular.

How have the first 24 hours gone? Are you smitten?

Hi Rob

Thanks. John (JAW) has also suggested Imgur. I'll try them...

Drove the car 125 miles home yesterday and am indeed totally smitten!

I will post an initial review with first impressions shortly.

Cheers,

Simon

Congratulations Simon. Looking forward to seeing the pictures (hope yiu find Ingur straightforward) and hearing all about it.

That’s good news! Glad you like it.

Some random thoughts about “T Day”: * Great handover at the OPC. 10/10 for Michael, the SE. * This is despite a ding in the trim around the passenger door. Michael mentioned it before I checked the car. Must have happened during transit/preparation.

* Very pleased that he mentioned it, as I may have missed it in my excitement! * They have already ordered the replacement part. * Car otherwise looks perfect! * Michael even got the valeter to give the car a final quick polish here and there, after it had been unveiled! * Am really happy with the look of the car, especially the colour, and the interior, with the beautiful deviated stitching and other Racing Yellow highlights! * Love the seats! 4-way Sports Seats Plus. Really comfortable and I think I prefer them, with their Sport-Tex fabric in the centres, to full leather seats. * Car sounded great on start up in the showroom. * And I'm a big kid, so love the pops, burbles and crackles from the PSE in Sport Mode! * Gear change is excellent, rifle bolt precise. And a nice stubby, shortened gear lever too! * And I didn't stall it once, in 125 miles, after driving only PDKs for the last 2 years! :) * I asked Michael about running in. He's worked at Porsche for 32 years and the first half of that was as a technician/mechanic in the workshop/service dept. He said to just make sure the engine's warmed up before giving it the beans. It has a 3-year warranty after all, he said. * To be honest, I think I'll keep it mostly below 4,000 rpm for the first 1,800 to 2,000 miles anyway. * Things do seem more raw and noisy in the cabin, as expected, especially compared to the refined & civilised Panamera. But I really like the whole vibe, enhanced by the manual transmission. * It is nice to be back in something relatively small and wieldy, after the Panny. Really good visibility too!

* Moving from 21” wheels on the Panamera to these 20” wheels seems to result in a pretty good ride for what is a much sportier car. Pleasantly surprised with how the car soaked up the bumps! * I felt at home very quickly, having previously had the 991.1 C2 for 8 months & 11k miles.

* I really like the smaller 360mm steering wheel & noticed the difference immediately, compared to the ‘normal’ size Porsche steering wheel.

* I actually like the heavier steering without the Power Steering +. Just feels more authentic to me and in tune with the ethos of the T. * Lots of lovely torque from the turbocharged engine, giving great flexibility to the driving experience. * Not a priority, but impressed to see an indicated 32 mpg on the journey home. Not bad for a six-cylinder 3.0 twin-turbo Porsche petrol engine for 125 of its first 139 miles! * Oh, and I got a mug and umbrella, in addition to the normal two key rings Am sure I'll think of other stuff as soon as I submit this post...

Thanks, John. I will probably try on Monday to tackle the complexities of adding photos!

Seems a great shame that photos can't be more simply shared, as they can on Rennlist and the Macan Forum, without a diversion via a third party website... [8|]

Come on Simon, you've been driving us nuts for months, we need pictures...

Otherwise we're all coming round to your house, and you don't want that!

Sounds like a pretty good start. Am really growing to like mine more and more, I think they are a great package.

Thanks, Fudgie! I have spent too much b***** time trying to download images! :ROFLMAO:

Don't understand why it should be so hard to share pics on here, compared to other sites.

I have managed to update my avatar though! [;)]

If I can download directly from my computer for my avatar, why not for adding photos to a post...?

Answers on a postcard... [&:]

Looks great in the Avatar (if a bit small)! don't waste any more time trying to download them when you could be out driving it! :ROFLMAO:
