New Carrera T Order

That's a shame. Mine was presented beautifully by Porsche Bolton. I had a brand new black Mercedes back in 2000 and promised myself never to buy a black car again - they appear to stay clean for 5 minutes! My wife chose a black car last time and that only reinforces my prior experiences! They do look the best when well presented though!

Out of interest, is it still possible to order a new 991 'T' ?

I assumed the factory shut down and 992 would have meant the order book was now finalised?

Saw my first Carrera T at OPC this week. Black with yellow accents (please note Jimmy no sneezing!), great spec as well. Looked very nice. New owner certainly very happy! However not impressed with OPC presentation of the car which should have been throughly valeted. Buyer didn’t seem to notice as he had the new car rose-tinted specs on!!

Might one ask which OPC?

Best bet would be to ring around some OPCs. You might strike lucky and happen upon a rare build slot still up for grabs!

I don’t think there are any slots left.

A good pal of mine has made some enquiries in the north west and the centre’s pending demonstrator is the best offer he can get.

I think I can go as far as saying confidently that the T will be rarer than the GT3 due to the timing of the factory shutdown.

Congratulations on your new car, Rob.

Did you manage to obtain a competitive quote from Lockton or have you gone elsewhere?

Thanks Clive.

Yes, I did get a competitive quote from Lockton and have given them my business - sadly, just like Porsche Centre Bolton, they didn’t offer PCGB Directors discount but I am pleased with the service.

That's great news, Rob.

Such a pity Lockton appear unable to offer competitive terms on current models to many fellow members.

Regards,

Clive

I wish!

Sadly not.

I will never understand the postcode lottery of insurance quotes. We do have 3 other cars than the T - which will do a relatively low annual mileage and live in a locked garage with an active tracker - suspect those factors helped.

Eeek! My T will do a relatively high mileage (up to 18k), will be a sole car/daily driver, will be parked outside my house (albeit on a private road) and will not have a tracker. [8|]

I suspect that you may struggle to get a Competetive quote with Lockton - but by all means try them. LV were very competetive for me and did agree to repairer of choice for bodywork/glass and new replacement in first 12 months in the event of a total loss.

The T will eat that mileage up no problem. It won’t comfortably accommodate my 2 teenagers though!

I'm with Manning UK, who I believe advertise with PCGB. They insure my Panamera and I'll be sticking with them for my incoming T. My daughters are 22 and 17, but luckily my older daughter has her own car. It's not a Porsche, but she did enjoy driving a 718 Boxster at Silverstone, PEC!

Well I hope you do better than me. My 991 C2S is insured through AIB Insurance Brokers with Hiscox. Agreed value, 5k miles, my wife and I, fully comp on any car, Europe wide, £1200 per year! Just had quote from Lockton at £1150. Car has Porsche tracker and is kept in locked garage! I am 55, live in Bristol and have 3pts which are nearly 5yrs old. Why so much? Lockton couldn’t tell me....

Flippin eck. C2S, 20k Miles pa, garaged and tracked plus extended eurocover +10k Business miles, I'm 43 with a clean licence and full NCB (protected). £422.13. Hastings Premium for me, 4th year with them (Previous Audi S8 was covered with them for a smidge more). There are 4 cars in the "family" but insured with different providers.

Edit: They are aware I sneeze at yellow cars too

Hi also found that Manning UK, Lockton and AIB Insurance Brokers not competitive regarding insurance quotes (or offering benefits that I would not use). So I ended up with Aviva 'Private Clients' offering better package, It was not just the cost but the offering they provided, however its still £1,109. With 8k Business miles, European protection mileage, full NCB (protected) including vandalism over without risking my NCB, my choice of repairer including OEM parts and windscreen and if my car is unfortunately written off up to 3 years old I ca get a same spec car/equivalent car brand new car so not needing GAP Insurance). a I too having a clean licence and being a IAM member and 50+

Do either of you have agreed value? Have you ever had to claim from Hastings Jimmy? Saying that, our family cars are on a multi-car policy with Admiral. I just wanted agreed value and AIB were recommended by another 911 forum. Apologies Simon for hijacking your Carrera T thread.....yellow I believe (achoo!......Jimmy!)

Regarding the agreed value issue for me there is no agreed price however this is not required, as I can order a brand new 911 C4S to my same specification as l have now as a replacement (even if my C4S is 3 years old was written off).

My car is a Dec 2011 model so the three year old option is precluded. I have until October to review my insurer but the current one does seem dear even though there are many benefits. Also 5k miles is certainly insufficient - I need at least 7 or 8k at least.
