New members welcome and photos

Good Afternoon All,

I have recently joined the PCGB club. I dont have a car yet but I am actively looking to purchase in the next few months.

I am hoping to find a nice 997 turbo circa 2007, looking at the ones around.. they all seem much of a muchness (Lovely), what I will need is

an expert to view the car and give me an appraisal, can anyone recommend a company that can do that? I live in Bristol and of course would be happy to pay for this service.

thanks,

Martin

Hi. First posting to the forum - hello! Had this 997.2 GTS now for almost 2 years and, although I really liked the standard black colour for the alloys, I thought the car might better suit something less contrasty and so took the plunge and had them refurbished recently to satin silver. I really like the result - although I appreciate style choices can split opinion! Anyway - great to be part of the Forum.

Love the centrelock wheels and they suit the colour/car very well; IMO a much better choice than black - go od decision! [:D]

Welcome to the forum!

Thanks, Whitewater! Appreciate that. Always a bit of a worry when making a significant cosmetic change. I also got a new set of centre caps in black (with coloured crest) to replace the original silver ones. I couldn't source any for the 997 - but I found that a set for the 991 GTS were the same size and fitted perfectly. Couldn't afford to run out to anodising the centre locks black as well (yet!!). [:)]

That looks spot on! I’ve been thinking about doing the same with mine but not sure it will carry the wow factor yours has quite as well, especially with standard S wheels.

Agree .. it's hard to know what it will turn out like .. but I can vouch that it makes no difference to the performance! My thinking was that black wheels on a white car can tend to catch the eye a bit and so distract your focus away from the car? Attached is a picture of the car as purchased - from the heady days when you could just go out and drive them whenever you wanted - and I think if you compare the before and after pictures you can see what I mean?

ps not sure how to avoid getting two images uploaded .. and I can see others have had that issue before too .. [:)]

personally I think it looks better now. i Couldn’t of uploaded a worse photo and now struggling to change it. I can’t see it working on mine, but imagine a set of the below might look ok. (Soz couldn’t upload photo)

I did also look into purchasing a new set of alloys - but really glad I went down the refurb route .. £600 (ex VAT) for all 4 done to perfection by Alloy Hub near Leek. Wouldn't have had anywhere to put the old set, in any case! attached is a picture of a white 997 (cabriolet) with the wheels you linked to I think ... in case that helps?

Hi everyone,

Just joined the owners club after purchasing my first Porsche. Looking forward to Porsche ownership and chatting to other members. Im based in West Yorkshire.

Hi. Love the car - and the picture! Not that many still images where you can see the car actually doing what it was made for!

Hi all

Childhood dream realised and finally a proud 997 (C2S, manual, sports crono) owner after selling my 987 a few years back. No plans to sell this.... ever!!

It'll be my daily driver, she's had an engine rebuild, IMS etc and been well looked after so the search is over and time to enjoy some (s)miles.

I'm down in the New Forest so some lovely driving roads on the doorstep. No real plans to change anything just yet, probably think about switching out the PCM2.1 to get some phone integration (although unsure whether it has a Bose system as no sub in rear, no 680 option code BUT has Bose door speakers??...)

EDIT: will be looking for some roof bars to carry the mountain bike at some point to help shift the Covid blubber!!

Keep safe!

Rob

Congrats and enjoy!! It's a great feeling when you can realise the dream!

hi - lovely car and the 997 is a great choice .. although I am biased! Looking forward to hearing more in time about your roof bar search ... certainly adds to the idea of an everyday functional sportscar!

Great looking car Rob, and welcome to 997 ownership! Let me know how you get on looking for the roof bars and bike rack, it would be great to have a picture with it all kitted up!

Hi Everyone,

Newbie here. I actually joined the club back in October last year, but we know what's happened since.

I bought my 997.1 Carrera 4S in Carmon Red/Sand Beige September 2019.

Almost two years in and still in love.

Attended my first meet the other weekend at Castle Coombe for a brunch get together. Great to see so many lovely cars in one place.

Hopefully get to chat with other members at a smaller pub meet?

I'm in Region 16, based in Wiltshire.

Cheers,

Mike

Welcome to the club Mike.

Great colour combo you have there, and a lovely looking car. Enjoy your ownership, and the car meets, it is a great way to socialise and an excuse to go out in the Porsche!

Great colour combination , but then I am biased. Very few this colour in the UK. The only problem I have found over the years it is a b....r to keep clean!
