Thanks, yes I think the combo is great. Not seen another 997 in that colour. Did see a 996 Turbo when I was at Simply Porsche last year.

Agree, the Turbo looks very special. I think my search for my colour was inspired by the 993 Turbos in Arena Red that featured heavily in the publicity shots back then. Arena and Carmon reds very close.

Recently joined the Porsche club, from Scotland originally but living in Trinidad and Tobago. Recently purchased a 2011 911 C2S (26k miles)
Car worked perfectly for around 2 days... then spent last 4 months getting repaired... PDK issues, this has been resolved now and i should
be picking it up on Tuesday. looking forward too finally seeing what it is like to drive and be able to make it home under its own power and
not on the back of a tow truck...

Hi, ive just joined the club and hopefully very shortly will be securing a 997 gen 2. I’m planning to buy from a reputable dealer for some piece of mind for my hard earned $ and wondered what the thoughts were on RSJ and 911virgin. As far as I see they have good reps, but thought worth getting any opinions from those in the know. thanks

Hi! I have just joined as a first time Porsche owner and loving every mile! Just wanted to say hi, and hope to join you on up and coming events in the Southwest. Pics below - 2005 911 997.1 C2S in Carrera White with 34k miles (I’ll soon get those figures up as its my daily). 2011 Speedster replica inside and out including full leather custom seats and interior trim. Speedster ‘humps’ are removable so the kids can still sit in the back too. I’m sure it is not everyone’s ‘cup of tea’ as far as purists, but I absolutely love it

Just purchased my first Porsche and joined the club/forum.
It's a 2007 997.1 C4S, bought privately from a neighbour, who was going to keep it long term, 'till his head was turned by a 991GT3......
Against all advise, I bought it without an inspection/warranty etc, as he seems a nice chap, is an enthusiastic car owner, has definitely looked after it and only 35K miles.
The spec is quite comprehensive; almost 30 options ticked when bought new:-
X51 engine upgrade, Aerokit, PCCB, short shift, Chrono plus, sunroof, extended leather everywhere, ali bits here and there, wheel spacers, sports wheels, rear wiper etc.
(A 'Christmas Tree', as we used to say in the trade.). Just my luck, it's developed a small oil leak after about 300 miles, so I've booked it in to Chelsea Carrera, my local 'indie' here in High Wycombe.
They're going to check it all over for me and fit a Low Temp Thermostat, as an additional precaution.
I wonder if any forum members have used these chaps before? They seem knowledgeable and have been around for ages, but any experiences shared would be nice.
I know bore score with these is all over the internet, and it's my main concern, but it's not ticking or showing black tail pipes yet. It's been serviced properly, run on Millers 5W40 comp oil, warmed up gently, having LTT fitted, so hopefully it'll be fine. What's the general consensus; they will all go sooner or later, or is it just a small percentage that will need a rebuild?
Engine number tallies with later IMS, so hopefully OK with that.
I also can't find definitive info on the 997 X51 upgrade; does it come with a baffled or deeper sump as part of the upgrade?
All advise /comments would be appreciated and hopefully I can meet up with some of you soon.

I don't think the X51 power kit had a different sump on the gen 1 cars.
In terms of bore scoring, if you know a bit about engineering and metallurgy, then you can easily believe the top rebuild experts, that it is a matter of "when" not "if" about it. I personally do believe that, but it can seemingly be delayed by taking the known precautions. It seems the case that the Tiptronic cars are worse (I assume yours is manual), and cars in extremely cold climates can come off worse too all linked to the same fundamental design flaws in the M96/M97 engine. Beyond that there's no mileage that can be predicted when its going to happen. I've seen as many low mileage cars as medium and higher ones which have had a problem.
Good luck in getting the leak sorted though.
