Well, Santa arrived early up here… My better half put in the winning bid in a silent auction at a charity dinner for vehicle livery but we decided against using it on a white van. I played around on Forza 4 on the Xbox and came up with the design - the idea being that the Basalt black is being ripped off the 997C4S to reveal the Gulf racing colours below. I know it may be not everyone's cup of tea but I absolutely LOVE it!!!! I'll take some proper photos when the car is cleaned but thought I'd fire this one up...

Hello Gary, I am what you would call owner ignorant. I've been fortunate enough to have had a number of these wonderful cars over the years without really understanding the value of this Club. Frankly being left, light of wallet every time i visit my nearest dealership and getting fed up talking to someone that started 10 minutes ago, i thought i'd get more helpful advice from those equally passionate. My son and i walked into the Silverstone Classic Porsche section in the summer, my son wearing a Ferrari cap (which he removed, naturally) and we signed up to be members. So far so good. Starting with a 944 Cabriolet from 1989 which is still in my garage having covered 49,000 miles. 48 of those in the last 9 years. I keep it for my son for his 21st though God knows how we'll insure it. After that i bought a 993 C4 Cab (which i sold doh!), 996 C4 Cab and a Boxster. Today in the garage we have an RS60 Boxster and a 997 C2 Cab. All moth balled until the spring. I own a number of other cars which really aren't of interest in this forum. Other than that. kids, dog, horses, company director etc etc live near Oxford I am not a dealer but i love the cars. Kindest regards Iain Love your car although i've resisted this temptation for sure i'd kill myself.

welcome to the club Iain. why not use your cars all year around? thats what they are made for after all. and the 997 register are doing a drive on 28th Jan to Porsche uk H/Q Reading.

Iain Welcome to the 997 part of the club and one that can hopefully show how much fun club membership can actually be. The 997 is a great car that is well supported by its membership. A nice set of motors in the garage, although some of my best drives were in my cabriolet in the winter months..[:)] Porsche believe their cars are as drivable in the winter as the summer- although you may have other transport offering even more winter fun!? Believe it or not you saying cars not of interest to this forum may be way further from the truth as many owners have wide interests and enjoy chater on many subjects, cakes and driving are a few of the many [:D] Many owners also have interests in Dogs and horses- certainly the dog discussion at the meeting [;)] I think we've all had that lightened feeling when visiting the dealership but we have as a register been well supported by Porsche cars GB and as Helen mentions a visit on the 28th has been arranged.- and now don't forget your 10% discount from the dealers.. garyw

Gavin I saw something similar at Lemans a few years ago but on the side of the car rather than the bonnet/roof Not my everyday look I'd pick but a great look for something special- I might be tempted at Lemans this time round myself. As a nice gift from the Mrs, much better than on the white van...[;)] garyw Plenty of tyres in stock [;)]

Welcome to the club Iain,I am sure you will enjoy the drives that the 997 register has to offer Also with horses and dogs Tanya and yourself will get along just fine Regards Paul/Tanya

Hi Gary - you're right, plenty of tyres in stock! 2 sets of summer tyres… I'll need to find a track day or two to use them up ;-) More photos on line at http://s175.photobucket.com/albums/w152/drgav2005/997%20C4S/ - gave my Christmas present a wash before heading out on the present run ;) Hope everyone is having a great Christmas!
