New Year/Winter Gathering 31st Jan

Yep, I didnt post re the light because I had lost the plot who's car was who's by then :p but I did follow a Turbo out and part way home home and it did indeed have one rear brake light. On a happy note [:D] On the back of what was not a PCGB meet and the friendly folk I did meet, I finally made the jump and applied to join the club. I am particularly looking foreward to being enrolled on 'the' register and receiving a lovely register sticker ( hint) so please tell me you still do them. Regards Mas

Hi Mas and welcome........etc You should get this months Porsche Post and be able to read my article on the Dyno Day we had last September! See worth joining already[:D] Mike

There were two cars with a missing brake light, one was Paul's. It must be the season, I have a front indicator bulb that's out and there seem to be no end of cars on the road with only on tail light or one head light.

Great to hear you are joining up Mas. [:)] Also enjoyed our mini convoy back down the A1 along with yourself and Mr McN (at least until the hold ups past Huntingdon !). Its great to see 944's on the move in a group - they look fantastic whilst making "discrete progress". [;)]

The other chappie with non-functioning brake light was me ... thanks for the top tip as I left the pub. When I stopped for fuel, I swapped one of the reversing bulbs for the spent brake light - handy they're all the same type/size/wattage (bar the rear sidelights obviously); risk management in action! A big thumbs up and many thanks to Jon/Mike for the idea/location - just the right mix of tyre-kicking and 'pubbing' (IMHumbleO). Some of the roads round there are quite sublime - I came into Rutland Water in a 'left-flanking' maneuvre (won the argument with satnav lady - but lost my way) via Rockingham and Uppingham (A6003) and it, too, was hilly/bendy and empty ... I even managed to find a really nice 'ye olde tea shoppe' in Rockingham itself - half-way down Rockingham's aptly named Main Street on the left as you travel towards Uppingham (not that I need any more bacon butties - the diet starts next week). The nice lady even congratulated me on having such a nice car .... she said, "Don't see many like that" ... I said, trying to be witty, "What do you mean ... red cars?" ... she replied, wittily, "No ... Toyotas!" (15-Love to the lady, I fancy!!).

It was good to see a black 944 in my mirrors that wasn't Beaky, probably the first time in 6 years! [:D] With you both looking the same, I couldn't tell which of you got out of shape on the A1 slip road? Who'll admit to waggling at what was an embarrasingly slow speed? [;)]

E-mail me your address and I'll send one immediately. The least I can do. [:)] If anyone is missing a Register sticker let me know, e-mail is better than PM as I seem to be unable to remember to read my PMs. Membership number as well, I know wht you lot are like. [;)]

No waggle here ! [:)]

If it was anything like the north bound slip road it was freshly gritted, I had to aquint past the truck a 100 yards down the road.

I'm a bit late on this one, but wanted to thank everyone for a great day out. What a superb turn out, and such a nice variety of cars. I was really taken with Mark's car, but I guess that was inevitable! It was a great excuse to give my car a bit of a run, I did less gear changes than I've ever managed on a journey as I knew the linkage was coming off again, it came to pieces as I reversed it onto the drive at home - talk about lucky! Only had one moment on the journey considering how unsuitable the tyres were, by Ivinghoe Beacon there's a sharp 90 degree bend and nothing but a sheer drop on the outside, I went round it at walking pace (it was covered in slow) and still understeered towards the drop []
