I have Bilstein Escort Cup kit bought from Lindsey on my machine with the rear torsion bar removed. http://www.lindseyracing.com/LR/Parts/944SUSESCORT.html Personally, I love them. Guys who set up my car are rally guys, so they kept the car at stock MO30 height, with the standard 16 inch alloys and tyres. It's a truly awesome machine on the back roads, and more than capable at the track. And west of Ireland we're talking here, bumps, corners and camber changes by the new time. Rear end feels so much tighter than stock, absolutely fantastic. I'd describe the ride as very firm, but not quite "hard", I've not yet have someone get out of it and complain of discomfort, but at the same time I don't remember bringing my mum for a run either ! Drove it as my everyday driver for over a year, often on business, and loved it. She's currently parked in the parents garage until I have time to bestow some much needed love (or in the Porsche dictionary, MONEY) to her again ... I do imagine however if you were lowering the car and sticking on 18's or similar, camber plates and perhaps a set of bucket seats, she would be bone shakingly stiff. Donal, another 944 head friend of mine (who has driven and riden in far, FAR more 944's than I) always raves about the setup, and he's shown himself to be a fairly knowledgable cookie on all things 944 on many, many occasions.
