Omg, how clean is this turbo?!

I have asked him and they were painted - was a few years ago now so its possible they have been updated, he does drive it, but then gets out and cleans it, but then its the same with his other cars and caravan. Its nice but not the best or even close. Some have asked if it was mine on show as he started using the same show plates as me (944T) they obviously didn't look that closely at my slightly sorry looking well used example [;)]

He's a very sound chap and realistic about the price too.. would prefer it to go to the right person than get a lot of money for it! He offered it to me for 8k and I very nearly bought it but much as I'd love to have owned a 944 turbo from new and would love to have that car (even though its the wrong colour!) I could not bring myself to buy it as it would be an insult to what he's done for me to enjoy it the way I'd like to.

He has had offers of over 10k now so people do respect it!

ok, maybe I'm slightly biased because the concours debate is close to my heart. The only difference is that my car is still original and neither 'upgraded'/'rebuilt' nor 'modified' which to my mind is the ONLY way a car is concours. It's only factory original ONCE, and that's the only definition of a true concours car for me.

Having said that, can I just clarify a point:

A CONCOURSE is something you find in the front of an airport or a train station. A CONCOURS would be the competition that your car may compete in. Pedantic yes, but I like concours so that's me pigeonholed anyway....

Lmao - we had this debate a while ago, at the same time I stupidly asked if it should be "sills" or "cills". [&o]

I've never been sure of the concours standards. Is it better to have 20-plus year old stickers in the engine bay, or buy original stickers and locate them correctly? Or just assume that I know where the flippin' oil-filler is and it's more important to keep the oil topped up than to polish the sticker. [:D][:D]

I've been slightly less than sensitive in the past about concours, largely because I was invited to enter an amateur "show and shine" event, and when I turned up every other car had it's wheels off being polished with dusters made from Dodo feathers. It's not possible to enter half-heartedly, and that does put some people off. I'd still rather buy a car from someone with a totally obsessive regard to detail and maintenance, as I can't see it does anything other than lose him hours in effort to my advantage.

Never pigeonhole yourself, the 944 community is so active because we all want so many different things and the cars can still deliver all.

I like that quote. I think it sums up why I love 944's so much.. that and the fact that everyone I've met who owns a Porsche drives it properly which cannot be said for any other type of sports car! Porsche just seem to attract drivers rather than posers.. I like that.

I think it is because Porsches bring out the 12 year old in us all. [:D] I shall now go and beat up my 12 year old son because my dad is older than his.
