Ooooo shiny....

Edited to add: Helen posted (quite amusingly) as I was typing. This is in response to Slim.

I have spoken to several people in the last 2 weeks or so who want a car like yours. While none of them are saying it's overpriced I think they all want to pay less for one, so I know what you mean. Bottom line they all say they haven't got the budget.

What I don't understand (and apologies to any 944 S3 owners reading this) is that people will happily pay £12k for an average 968 that is essentially the same inside and out but has smaller brakes, no M030, much less power (and little hope of increasing it much short of supercharging) no LSD etc. etc. for a car that is only 2 years younger (which makes the square root of f-all difference when both cars are over 12 years old). In other words why is the 968 more valuable when it is no better in any measure beyond possibly the subjective looks factor that is very much an individual thing?

Fen, its no use getting all logical, if they really sold for what they were worth in terms of performance, build quality etc. We wouldn't be so happy to throw them around at high speed and to use them all through the winter!

Equally, why is a 911 of the same vintage, and original price, as a 944 Turbo worth so much more second hand now? Could it be down to market forces [8|]?

People after 3.2s are probably more after some classic than after something useable on a daily basis (meaning better designed/engineered, easier to live with, etc).
I can well understand this but if I were after driving thrills in the "classic sports car" sense through little compromise I'd definitely be looking into a British car. That's just me though.
Anyway people who are "totally mad" about 911s are often either emotionally-challenged or have a rather narrow motoring horizon. IMHO.

Does my turbo look big in this?

Nice pics on this thread- should have been entered for the Turner prize. Better than the rubbish short listed!

SHINEEEEY [:)]

It's a shame most of it is hidden. I think I'm changing my mind about preferring the plain black one [&:]

It must be getting close now?

I have to say that your engine builders premisses is almost indistinguishable from Prodrive. :ROFLMAO:

[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]It's got an appointment with a spray gun in 2 weeks and I have agreed to take 21st June off work to assist with reindexing torsion bars and changing front suspension bushes. By that time the engine should hopefully be in but remember we need to make up a new wiring harness for it as well as just bolt it together. There's still a lot to do...[FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]In terms of premises I'd obviously use Prodrive if they were closer. I hear they charge £25/hr as well [;)][FONT=verdana, geneva"]
