Looking really good. Clean as it already is, the engine will be even cleaner when it comes back from SimonP with everything freshly plated like factory [8D] He does a good job to the internal oily bits too [;)]

Everybody always says that you should take a 944 engine out from underneath and out it back in from underneath. I took my S2 engine out up the way and put it back in from the top as well. It is a lot easier with a friend to steady the engine as you get the clutch fork etc back in place.

Hi Paul .......looking forward to getting it back from Simon but I have so much to do before it can go back in.... I spent the afternoon removing more bits for re-building

Dropped the engine down to Simon Peckham today, really looking forward to getting it back I,m sure he will do a fantastic job my problem is Simon is keen to fit a new larger Turbo, injectors and other mods to improve performance and drivability as per my request 360lbs of Torque was mentioned [:)] I love the idea of it going faster but not so keen on the Mods what I really want is a Turbo that is new and Modern but fits inside the original housing using all the original lines.....does it exist so in short I want modern injectors, modern Turbo, performance chip etc but It needs to look Stock Or am I being stupid should I go with Simons recommendations............[] All suggestion welcome

Why do you want a turbo that fits all the original lines? An out of the box Garrett GT will be better and cheaper than anything Simon may suggest you, as any turbo that will fit the standard plumbing is necessarily custom assembled and just won't perform as well. Anyway, always funny how people talk when they put a first foot on that slippery slope... "would like it faster BUT"... that BUT won't hold for much long [:D]

PS : since you are providing Simon with the complete engine my thinking is that he may well be able to check for clearances in situ and provide you with modified exhaust pipes to fit a Garrett turbo.

[:D] [:D][:D] I,m trying hard to stay of the slippery slop I guess I still want it to be a 944, if I was changing the headlight bulbs I would buy the best and latest technology bulbs that fit.......I would not cut the hole bigger to fit bigger lights even though they work better That's my twisted logic......[:D] hope it makes sense

Except that upgrading engine components such as the turbo won't affect the visual identity of the car at all. If well done only a few exercised eyes will spot the difference, and then it's still not obvious when you raise the hood... /throwingsoapunderyourfeet [:D]

The 3.2 Turbo that Simon built for me hadone of his very large Garret/KKK hybrid turbochargers but once fitted it would only be the most dedicated and anorakish of 944 enthusiasts that would spot it was not standard. I only have one photo of the engine bay and it's not a helpful angle to show the turbocharger area but you get my drift:

I think sticking with the stock airbox will limit your power. However you could fit gtx 28. Get the crossover to take garrett flange. Get the discharge pipe to fit the 4 bolt exit. Little mod off stock turbo mount and no one will ever no unless they took it apart. Spool times would be reduced by almost 10mph in each gear that will make a difference for all gears boost at 20mph in 1st and 30 in 2nd

Sorry got to change the subject Simon just called in my engine has a strange number M44.SC Is this normal Edited to add picture

Very impressed by all this - and you're not a mechanic or anything - you just like *playing about* - yet you whip a 944 lump out as if it were nothing! Hats off ...
