[FONT=arial"]I am happy to announce an Event for the register in Cambridge, on Sunday 6th November.[FONT=verdana,geneva"]

[FONT=arial"]We will start mid-morning at OPC Cambridge [Harston]. [FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=arial"]Aftersales Manager, (and enthusiastic club member) Gary Sorrell will be our host, along with our liason there Patsy Marshall.[FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=arial"]They are offering refreshments on arrival, and (depending on numbers) will arrange a tour of their facilities.
[FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=arial"]OPC Cambridge is the only OPC with a full workshop AND a full bodyshop, so there will be lots to see, and the opportunity to ask many questions"¦[FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=arial"]
Porsche Selection items will be available for purchase (just in time for Christmas!)
[FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=arial"]

Those members interested can explore the pre-owned and new cars on display, and test drives can also be taken "" although these will need to be booked in advance.
[FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=arial"]

Patsy is preparing "Goodie Bags" for everyone to take away with them.

[FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=arial"]After the morning's activities we will head to Foxton for a pub lunch at "The White Horse", and then tea and cakes at a nearby thatched cottage. This was built in 1654, and is owned by a friend of Club Member Julian Young.[FONT=verdana,geneva"]

[FONT=arial"]Numbers are likely to be limited (at least to the Pub Lunch and Thatched Cottage). There will be as small contribution to expenses at the cottage at £TBA per person with the balance going to charity.[FONT=verdana,geneva"]

[FONT=arial"]For those who would like another interesting thing to do in the afternoon, Duxford Aviation Museum is nearby (I'll be there!)

[FONT=verdana,geneva"][FONT=arial"]I would like to thank Julian for his efforts in arranging this for the register (all his own work!) [FONT=verdana,geneva"]

[FONT=arial"]If you wish to attend this event, please can you indicate your interest by replying to this thread?

I have managed to get several people interested. One is the owner of a good-looking Panther, I think that it is a de Ville model, which was once owned by Oliver Reed - he says that he will bring it along for us to examine. I have seen it and it has a huge V-12 engine although it does about 12 miles to the gallon - the car looks a bit like a Bugatti.

A couple of 996 owners are also interested. I will try to keep you informed and hope that they will communicate by e-mail or to this post.

For your information, the landlord of the pub has been 'warned', has put the date into his diary and is looking forwards to meeting everyone.

Hope this is the success we all hope for.

Fantastic! I certainly want to have a look [:)]

Note to all:
Although this is advertised as a "Boxster Register" event, as with almost anything the club does, everyone is welcome.
The more the merrier! [8D]

Now pencilled in my calendar. OPC Cambridge, part of the Lancaster group, also have their Aston Martin showroom newly opened next door; so feel free to bring all your mates who want to trade-in their AMs for Porsches [;)]

When I took my Boxster in for service to Cambridge at the end of July, somebody had done just that. The day before they had traded in their one month old DB9 for a 997! There was also a DB7 sitting outside the Porsche showroom.

There were two right outside some 3 weeks back and I was told the same that is they are being traded in for 997s and then 2 weeks back the AM showroom opened up and I reckon it is just a sales strategy by the Lancaster group...

rats i've just realised this clashes with the NEC classic car show.[:mad:]

Helen

We can try to get one of the goodie bags for you, something nice and freee from Porsche GB, if you like.

Alternatively you can come along for the day....

Carl

Looking forwards to seeing you. Bring along a [Porsche] friend or two if you can.

Seems as if we have about 10 attenders already. Please let Mark know if you intend to come allong to join us, so that OPC Cambridge, the pub and Judy [my friend the cottage owner] all have a rough idea of numbers.

I'll definitely be there - will bring my long suffering with me. Would have brought the offspring too but he objects to being crammed into the front boot.
