Very much looking forward to this. I wonder if they will have a Cayman at the OPC?

The pub lunch looks good too - what's in Hanky Panky pie? Thai food is a winner. I don't suppose they have entertainment involving ping pong balls whilst we wait for food, and if so I might leave the kids at home. [8D]

Big thanks for organising this.
The dealership experience and the pub were very good. It doesn't get much better than ÂŁ20 for 4 Sunday lunches.

Yup - thanks indeed. Unfortunately we missed the lunch - my other half is a bit unwell so we came straight home [&o] (we were the only Porsche that carried straight on after the level crossing). Nonetheless, good to see a few old faces and a good turnout at Cambridge.

We've just got back ([:'(]M11, M25).

Hope everyone enjoyed themselves.
Thanks to OPC Cambridge for being excellent hosts, The pub for the most amazing value for a long time. Judy for the loan of her cottage (whilst she wasn't even home!) ....and of course to Julian Young for bringing the whole thing together.[8D]

Thanks also to everyone who made the effort to turn up in spite of the weather - we had almost everyone there who said they would be. A great sight in the Pub carpark!

Well done to yourself and Julian. A good day out and deeply impressive OPC - now I fully understand the reasons for high OPC labour rates! As already said, a remarkably good pub lunch both in terms of quality and quantity - and I had to endure another one later that evening from the Boss.It was interesting to note the gathering of local lads eying up the machinery in the carpark -guess they dont see that every weekend .

Many thanks to Julian, Mark and Claire for organising this. Even with the rain it was a great day (and didn't it rain on the way home!). Also thanks to Gary and Porshe Centre Cambridge for the welcome, information and goody bag. Nice to know its "my OPC"!

See you all soon.

Mark and Boxster Register members, well done indeed, Gary has advised he thoroughly enjoyed hosting your event and a good turnout of around 50 members was excellent, we were busy at the NEC event and missed what seemed like a great day, delighted you enjoyed your trip to PC cambridge and pub lunch etc and now you probably realise why we have enjoyed, and ares till enjoying long standing relationships with this wonderful Porsche Centre and team, as you probably are all aware gary is a 996 owner privately, paid up club member and voluntarily runs our 996 Technical support, I am pleased to advise he will also help any Boxster, 997 or Cayenne member wherever practically possible with advice.

Best regards

Johnny McGirl

Thanks Johnny,
It's a shame it clashed with the NEC, but sometimes it happens....[&o]

I thanked Gary at the time for a 1st class visit to the OPC, and I'll be doing so again! [:)]

I'll also have to get in touch about the technical advice - I was only thinking the other day we could do with a Technical Advisor for the register - John, Nic, and myself do what we can, but after all we are only "experienced owners" (no slight intended to John and Nic!). A professional offering help is fantastic. [8D]

I am just wondering whether the 997 or any other Register would be interested if Judy and I arrange another morning at Cambridge/Harston or Hatfield OPC and then a meal at the pub in Foxton followed by tea and cakes etc. in Judy's cottage later this year?

Interest = some work for us [but I feel sure that I can work something out] = a fun day out.

Over to you all.

I spoke with Julian about this on Monday - and I said that as the Boxster Register we would be interested.

Note - This is attached to the old thread from the last visit - any new event has the date yet to be decided! [:D]

Thanks Mark.

I am not very good at this posting lark when the subject is quite serious and thought that 'hijacking' the earlier posts would show how successful the event some 4 years ago was and thereby create some interest.

Perhaps a joint Boxster + 997 event would work?

I am open to all reasonable suggestions and will contact both OPCs to see if they are interested - provided that there are positive signs of interest from either of those [or any other] Registers or perhaps Regional organisers.

I really do leave it all up to you all - I and Judy are willing to set things up provided there is sufficient interest - and in the current economic climate, I think that one or other of the OPCs and possibly a valeting/car detailing company can be persuaded to join in.

I await observations asap so that I can start the ball rolling. I suspect that November 2009 will be a suitable month - again this is subject to your observations and whether the OPCs will play ball.

Ooops - I just meant to pont out to anyone reading it that it was the old thread (and date) - I wasn't complaining Julian [:D]

The only problem with November is that it gives us no real chance to get it in Porsche Post [&o]

Anyway --- Over to the Members [:)]

Ok, into early next year if that will make things easier and give someone the opportunity to 'advertise' an event in PP - but the weather is always a problem in January and February.

I suppose that December might work but that clashes with Xmas breaks, dinners, celebrations, parties, work do's, dinners and so on.

As you said, over to the Members.

7 Nov, Saturday, is our London region open day at Porsche West London (everyone welcomed), probably not that much crossover from membership in Cambridge region but would be good not have it clash with that. Week after is NEC classic so seems end of November or next year would be more appropriate as December does get
crazy...
