Register Event - Cambridge. 6th November 2005

A quick reminder:

Those who are interested in Test Drives, must book in advance direct with Patsy Marshall at OPC Cambridge [FONT=porsche news gothic"](Tel: 01223 872872)
These are not available just by turning up - they must be pre-arranged (sorry).

I spoke with Patsy earlier today - and no-one has yet booked a drive.

Please add Rag, Rehanna and Nicholas to the list of attenders; they are coming in Rags' 996 C4 Cab.

Thanks.

Pearl and Phil

Mid morning in Harston at the POC there starts at about 10.30 and the first part of the event will continue until about 12 noon or so. Don't forget to book any test drives beforehand.

Lunch at the pub at 12.30 [subject to numbers] and tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits etc. at the cottage from about 2.30 onwards.

Time is not of the essence [for any legal eagles who might be checking this post].

The cost for the tea etc. is £5.00 per person.

Hope to see you on the 6th.

There are now under 4 weeks to go to the 6th November Cambridge/Harston/Foxton event. It looks as if there will be about 25 people attending but I would like to confirm numbers etc. to OPC Cambridge [so that they can order the free gifts/goodie bags and any workshop tours, refreshments etc.] and the pub as well as let Judy know for how many she is to expect for tea etc.

The NEC event runs on Saturday; so anyone who wants to join us on Sunday is welcome - but I really have to let the pub [and others] know numbers fairly soon.

I would also remind everyone who wants a test drive to let OPC Cambridge know directly asap - again so that they can plan appropriately; I don't think that a Carrera GT is available!!

Looking forwards to seeing as many as possible.

sorry Julian & Mark, Larry and i really wanted to come along to this event but we have got to attend the Classic car show at the NEC as our cars on show.

Helen and Larry.

Bad luck, you will miss the social event of November 6th this year. Hope to see you again soon after this event.

And the punishment will be...? Buying yet another Porsche?

Further suggestions anyone?

Mark

Think of the cost of Helen and Larry buying and running another Porsche.

On second thoughts, that really is not a punishment - I expect that we shall see them in a Cayman very soon.

Just to remind everyone that there is just over one week to go to the 'big event'.

Please let Mark know if you are coming; I will be advising the pub and OPC Cambridge of likely numbers midway through next week and helping Judy get in supplies for the post-lunch tea.

Incidentally, I think that Duxford is closed on the 6th - although the static displays/museums might be open.

Well, folks; 17 cars and still more to come?

The Cambridge event is next Sunday. Please let Mark Bennett know if you will be joining us so that I can let the OPC, the pub and Judy know the numbers.

Incidentally, Duxford will be closed on Sunday - or so they tell me.

Venue Review White Horse

Before Phil and Yuvee took over in 2001, The White Horse in Foxton was just like any traditional village pub. They brought something different - Thai food, which was unusual for pub fare at the time.

The White Horse also serves English food-- lasagne, sausages and chips, scampi, gammon steak, mixed grill, burgers and baguettes and thelike. In fact the pub is altogether traditional in look, yet bright and clean. The atmosphere was comfortably busy, even on a quiet weekday evening when we visited.

But we came for the Thai food, and took our places in the non-smoking restaurant. We didn't have long to wait for our starters: small Thai fishcakes -- perfectly formed, with plenty of chilli and lemongrass flavour-- and crispy spring rolls, made with fresh shredded vegetables and fine rice noodles. Both were served with a delicious freshly prepared sweet chilli sauce.

For the mains, you can generally choose to have chicken, pork, beef, prawn or vegetable. Rice or noodles are ordered separately, although beware: some of these are meals in their own right! We settled on two: beef panang curry, a pleasant mixture of coconut, satay and lemongrass with green beans and red chillis chopped large so that they were easy to spot; and sweet and sour pork, fresh vegetables and pork, which was tangy and sticky but with enough crunch.

We wish we’d had room for the desserts: none Thai, but a choice of Movenpick ice cream- - apple pie, chocorama and hanky panky pie.
