Riviera Blue Race Car 4 Auction ....>

I would *suspect* (I have no idea!) that its got a glass or CF bonnet, that doesnt fit very well. Which is appropriate for a race car I figure. Must be well known here surely. Got to be a cheap entry for someone looking for a race car. But its no RS/Cup car! I *love* the way the advert is written. [:D]

Are you tempted Des?

It even has one of those proper welded in cages! [:D]

Yes tempted but it's RHD! Seems a buy for someone for little more than standard carpet C2 money, appears not to have had a sunroof either rear wiper and a quarter of the price of a M003 993 Clubbie RHD! Great Track Hack someone here surely, keep the real one polished and spank this one ..... [:)]

Agree, when you consider the cost to hack about a nice C2 to get to that standard, it makes some sense.

I love the way Coys sometimes appear to go off at a tangeant with their ads......they mention the 3.8 litre engine and output of a cup car....interesting, but does this car actually have any of that spec???....It doesn't seem that clear to me, especially when "cup" cars were not fitted with varioram?

The concern I had with whatever mechanicals actually fitted is that any cost of refreshing raced running gear that may be required, could add considerably to overall cost...it may not appear to be such a bargain then.

I bet this is better...

Think the days of a 20K (something already track/race prepared) bargains are over for the air-cooled all involving lovelys .... but I bow to you Jason all wiseman of the Porker Market[;)]

The 964 certainly looks good,,not sure I could ever buy a car from someone who decribes it as "drop dead gorgeous" though, best leave that line for Saffron (Republica) [;)]

That Cieran Brewer car has hardly been used, I can remember when it was being built. I would give EMC a call and talk to Alex about it but from memory its only been raced a handful of times and it wasn't that long ago it got its shake down and setup honed. Cieran also had his 944 S2 race car for sale on there so I can only assume he is having a bit of a clearout to make way for something. His S2 was probably the best S2 race car ever built, anyone that knows the guy knows how he likes his cars to be spot on.

Yeah I did know that about the EMC car. They have a pretty formidable reputation on lower end race cars...

still 7k too much for me though[:D]

This has been up for sale a long time - I was tempted by it when it first came up but, like Des, the fact that it's RHD put me off.

that car would have been built for the Uk Carrera cup series in the 1990's. Specs of the cars were pretty close to standard C2'S. It will almost certainly come with a 3.6 engine. My car was built for the same series and we had to upgrade the car substantially to get it to it's current spec, changing the cage, upgrading the engine to non vario 3.8, peplacing drop links, anti roll bars etc.. thats after replacing most of the body panels and seam welding it and doing lots of other bits to it as well. To be honest, it is a fair way from being a cup spec car. To get it there would probably cost in excess of 40K.

It's a cheap track day car but it's a long way from a cup car or RS Clubsport and knowing how competitive the Carrera cup was in the 90's, it's probably had a lot of accident damage. It could well end up being a cheap track car but if could also end up costing a fortune in the long run. Buyer beware!

Steve, maybe you can answer this as its come up a couple of times. When they say built for the Carrera cup series - which series do they mean? As surely the Carrera cup only too the cup cars? I've seen a previous 964 mentinoed the same, and figured they mistakenly said cup, but actually meant some national porsche series of the day?

Also have seen the white 964 at its shake down, and at Future Classic at Snett. A really really nicely prep'd car. No idea its state now, but if you could negotiate 1/2 of Jason's 7k, I think it might be a good buy!
