Riviera Blue Race Car 4 Auction ....>

Ah! we were at Spa together then, I raced in the mag 7s and the summer classic in a 2.0L 911. Was it wet when you were on? [;)]

The 73 RS is original? Wow! didnt know that, I had seen that - got a nose around it at Snett I think - just assumed it was a rep. Sounds lovely. Glad you enjoyed your first season. Be keen to see how the new series pans out BMW racing can (and I hate to stereotype but...) be a bit more, well "competitive" [:D]. that said CSCC are very hot on driving standards which helps a lot.

Now I think about it I think we were opposite you in the paddock at mallory, part of a line up of 4 944s I think you were!

Just looking at what CSCC we can squeeze around our champ series and the Porsche Speed champ.

ORIGINAL: MarkK
There where some expensive cars out this season big Astons, expensive 911s including a real 73rs,964s of course which are quite expensive,so these people are confident in the quality and standards on track.
Mark ISTR the aston at Snett was Rikki Cann?

...the one in the gulf colours at the bottom of the page? That Camaro seemed to be even faster on the straights than the Aston and IMHO it looked like a museum piece like something you would show off at a concourse rather than race. Tony Marion did a lot of the races this year in his 2.4S, really lovely little car that I bet would fetch a nice packet if sold these days (really nice bloke as well).

I also picked up a "love bite" [:D] at Mallory, something about that track its like being in a pinball machine.

H______

I was at Mallory too and the Blue 944 with the group was actually Neil's Haughey, but Markk was a few pitches down.

Both cars are the same colour and were built by the same people.

What car were you driving there as I may have some pics if you want them - loads more than I put on line here -Mallory

Cheers

Thanks btw Alex for the pictures. Easy way to spot the difference between my car and Marks is I had round roundels and Marks had rectangular ones.

I especially like this one you took which I believe was in qualifying

Left to right is Alex Eacock, Ben Eacock then me [:)].

Ah Mallory Park was a favourite race my little sons came to watch so I was under major pressure, got a result there, Spa was a bit scary with all the rain that came down on one of the hottest weekends ever especially for our race as we were assembling to go out.....eau rouge was something else with bad visibility....Toyos with tread going to the edge helped a bit going up against cars with Michelin cups....thankfully it only started to dry towards the end.
The pukka article 73 was driven in some races by a lady,I was told by someone organizing it was the genuine article. The Aston makes a lovely noise.Nearly time for the racing to start all over again!Roll on April[:D]

Hi Mike,

Yep that's me! [Sorry non- porsche content.]

Nice set of pics. Thanks

Mark, we would have been in the same race then at Spa, I elected to start the race in the pit lane. A caterham with a screen in amoungst tin tops is a dangerous thing! The puddles on the apexes were pretty epic, you will notice by Mallory we'd lost the screen. Thankfully the summer classic (for the 911) was dry, as I didnt fancy that in the wet.

H_____

I've got about 10 pics of you from Mallory, PM me your address and I'll drop a CD to you.

That 2.4S is lovely and goes very well!

Neil - I think that pic is one of mine too - I did give the guys at EMC a disc with pics of "their cars" on, including all 16 of George's spin and recovery and a few of Ben taking to the grass.

Cheers

Mike

It is a quick lap,in a 40 minute race you get Dizzy!!,lots of good and interesting parts like the entrance into Gerrards and also the hairpin which you approach quite quickly, gives the brakes a bit of a pasting[:D]
Its a great track that's local to me ,I am hoping to do a bit of testing there before the season starts as you can do a morning and it's not expensive either.

I think the 100 quid test mornings every Wednesday are the best thing about Mallory. Devils Elbow is my favourite corner but the hairpin its hateful. Its a pretty good test of a car I reckon, just driving into the paddock in my Rangie you really notice the bumps and sudden gradient change going up to the hairpin (drive opposite way down to get to Paddock).

Agreed as you can just go round and round and round and hone your driving skills and get the car set up nicely. If a car works well at Mallory it tends to be good for most other circuits. Being only 20 minutes away is a bonus for me.

Interested about all the positive comments on CSCC as my friend is entering the Magnificant Sevens this year and has asked me to be the 2nd driver. Sounds like a nice organisation and sensible racing. Could be fun.

Ian.

Raced Mallory in a 392 Dallara F3 flat all the way around until you get to the haipin down to 2 nd then back up and flat all the way aroud again , cool, 43 sec or so lap.......... We were the 09 GT2 champions in the Gt90s series it had great potential with Stefan Ratels support , shame it did not get the support in cars , but this lark can cost as Steve knows.

Sensible racing, but not hugely competitive for 7s (typical for open class I guess). You will however have a laugh. They don't do driver changes on the Mag 7s for 2011, which is a shame, that was part of the appeal. What's the car? We might do a couple of races this year so will keep an eye out for you and Mark (944)

Hunter - GT90s looked like a big ticket series, nice to get the chance! Shame it didn't take off really, but I'm sure it will come back.

Really feel the need to get this back to 993RSs - anyone bought the blue car (wait! its not an RS either!) :)

The car in the opening post 'sold' at Coy's auction today (subject to referral to vendor) for £20k.

Remember that's ++. So it's +15% Bidders Premium. And it's +20% VAT on that. [8|]

Total to you Sir with your trousers down: £27,600. []

I note from the PET 7.1 that it had an option M650 sliding roof so at some time in it's life the roof has been filled or replaced. [8|]

What did you expect.....these early "cup" cars were production C2's, in Rhd form I thought all cars came to the Uk with option M650. Having said that there always seems to be an exception to the rule with porsche, special wishes etc...

Yes, I had a little nose around it, it had seen some action, and panel fit might have been interesting from what I could see. Still its a race car, if it had the right bits on it, maybe its not too expensive? I dont know - cars like this are getting hard to value right now I think.

Depends on how the deal was done?

If it was done out of auction then it may just have sold for £20k. Buyer pays £20k and seller gets £20k - Coys just handle the transaction on behalf of both parties so they can add to their 'sales numbers'.

This is what happened with the car i sold at Essen.

Hi Hugh. [:)] I had a look around it today too. I also got 3 people ,knowledgeable in Porsches, to look at the car for me. [8|] Yes it looks like it's had a hard life - not many (err correction - none) of the panels seem to fit right. Perhaps because it's on it's 3rd shell. [&:][:(] Also - little is known about it's history (I asked Coys and at the PCGB stand). It's been 'dressed' to look like an RS in order to get a buyer. The large wing would have to be replaced with a C2 wing and the 18" wheels would have to be changed to 17" I believe, but may be wrong, for the PCGB Championship racing series. I suspect that there may be many other things to change and I suggest it would be wiser for a buyer to purchase a car that has just completed a race series. [;)]

Hey Jason. [:)] You're right - there is a deal to be struck. They did appear to have some (professional) flexibility. I made a mistake with my figures. Coys and PCGB informed me that VAT would be on the premium only so the total would be £23,600. I think money would have to be spent on it no matter what route the buyer chose. It's a UK C2 at the beginning and at the end of the day. [:)]
