Rolling Road day at JamSport Northampton 19/06/04

For those that may have missed this in the previous thread here it is again with a thread of its own.

JamSport in Northampton (Danny) offered to host a rolling road day for a group of us. This would be purely for power tests to see what state your engine is currently in (or how modifications have worked) at a price of £25 each +vat. Danny also said they could fire up a BBQ out the back to keep us fed and entertained.

JamSport is a small backstreet tuning company, more used to dealing with Cosworths and Saxos etc but the three blokes that work there are very keen and I think eager to forge links with Porsche owners. They have one Sun rolling road and two vehicle lifts and a host of tools. The rolling road provides a graph of Bhp and torque but they cannot plot air fuel ratios or amount of boost . They do have a sensor that they shove up the exhaust to give a simple 'you are running too rich or lean' statement. They also do plain car servicing (we had to wait while they finished off a Fiesta Zetec yesterday) they also have a ceiling high stack of Max Power magazines with various scantily clad ladies for those inclined. Back to front baseball caps can be lent to any that do not yet have their own.

UPDATE

I've spoken to JamSport and pencilled in Saturday June 19th. We need a minimum of 25 cars so we need a few more names and hopefully no dropouts. Please let me know asap if you can make 19th June (the week after Le Mans), or we can look at alternative dates or have time to get it in Porsche Post and a wider audience

Please could you include me too!

My car is currently unmodified and I am interested to see how she fares before I begin tweaking. Also, I look foward to meeting the boost boy gang for some advise.

I will be travelling up from southampton - is there anyone else travelling M3, A34, M40, A43 and fancy meeting up?

No problem Jason, I've added you to the list. Anyone is welcome in whatever car [:D](We may have a Lotus Talbot Sunbeam owner turning up [:-])

Is Neil coming then? Top bloke! I missed his return from the rising sun through not keeping up with Titanic.

Jason,

I'll potentially be heading up the A34 etc., although I pick it up from the A303 side.

I have diaried in the 19th so all being well with the wagon, I should be there!

I will be coming from warwick if anyone wants to meet up on the way? (not sure where i'm going yet though!)

Cheers Rich, I've added you to the confirmed list.

Fen - Neil (the Lotus Sunbeam owner) has not said yes or no yet, but he lives in Northampton, and I am working on him [:-]

Paul

Just seen your post on this, would be good to join you or be on the reserve list if some guys drop out.

Presuming you will allow a 968 !!

all the best

Edited by Paul added you to the list, be great to see you, but I am strugling with numbers- only 19 confirmed so far

Quick update - 19 confirmations so far. 14 from here, 5 from Titanic. We really do need to get to 25

Paul

I suppose it is quite a long way ahead and so people are not planning dates for then yet. Have you tried Pistonheads, a post there would help numbers along I am sure.

Yes Paul, definitely put me down for it. Are JamSport on the St James Mill Road, by Cosworth? Passed there the other day and wondered how much it would be to get it on the rollers.

Cheers,

JG

Excellent [:D] welcome aboard John I've added you to the confirmed list.

JamSport are behind Wickes on the Weedon Road, it's a tiny little unit and you would probably not give it a second glance when you see the pile of wrecked Escorts and Novas out the back with big wheels and exhausts. I only used them after hearing they were used by Wayne Schofield who tunes a lot of the PCGB race cars. The guys that work there are very entertaining, clearly love powerful cars and have always taken care of mine (if you call taking it to the redline in 4th good care [] )

Steve Waterworth would like to attend.

No porsche at the moment but I think he might bring a 1970 Lotus Elan S4 DHC.

Cheers

Andy

Thanks Paul, I know where you mean - opposite Northampton Audi where I spent much of this week!

Will see you there mate, if not before.

Cheers Andy, I've added Steve Waterworths name to the confirmed list. It will be interesting to see how a car even older than ours is still shaping up [8D]

I have 24 people confirmed for the 19th now so just need one more to make this a definite (though I am sure JamSport would not turn us away for the want of one car [&:])

Two more requests to join the party....

Geoff Booth would like to come with his 911SC .
Mike Calvert with his Boxster

Cheers

Andy

Thanks for drumming up the local interest Andy [:)] only 4 spaces left, do you know if you yourself can make it yet?
