ROLLING ROAD DAY - DSAUTOMOTIVES 31st MAY

He's right, don't do it, just put the cambelt down, slowly, and step away! [:D]

If you're in Berks you can't be that far away either, you know it makes sense!

And I'll bring the Manthey 510 ECU I have for K24s to compare back to back! [:D]

Hi

only just seen this thread, I am tempted but I think I will be changing a cam belt on a 944, although it would be interesting to see how close my car is to the figure of 450bhp that its supposed to come with from the makers.

maybe next time.

J

So are you coming?? You must be tempted to see whether the Manthey ECU will work better than the 450 one?

I just need to hear from Jon Luik tomorrow and will then post up final running times. Lincoln is going to take the first slot at 8:30.

I will be there to meet you all and record the days activities.

HOWEVER, I will be in my trusty Mini Cooper S works! Having had the gearbox apart at least 4 times, it is now the case that it is found the pinion (from the ring and pinion) is shot. Even with a concerted effort the car will not be ready until next week. After a period of 6 weeks so far, I am far from convinced, but we will see...

To say I am disappointed does not get even close, but I need to stay focussed and just get the car back. I take it to Le Mans each year and will be seriously hacked-off if it is not ready for that.

Anyway..... will post up final running order tomorrow and look forward to seeing you on Saturday.

cheers (and in need of a beer!) Simon

Simon, that simply isn't fair, what a pain in the arse!! I have been in the same situation with my car when 9m used to look after it, 3 months turned into 11 months for instance, and then it burst into flames and i had to say good bye for another 6 months. I feel for you mate, as long as it's ready for Le Mans though!
When you do decide to take it to the rollers i'll come along, i'm really intrigued about your build, we'll speak on Saturday! Keep your chin up!

Thanks for your support - the engine build started last October and here we are about to get into June and still not done.

See you Saturday... cheers Simon

Hi guys..

My car was only on 5 cylinders last night, but I think the old, red bus should be in good enough condition to make it down to see you guys tomorrow..

Going to leave Nottingham at about 7:30am and hope to pick my young brother up (who rebuilt the engine) in Oxford at about 10am, so hope to be with you at about 11:30am..

Tom.

Simon - apologies cant do 9.30 as problem come up have to attend to in morning - hope I might be able to get there before finish if you could slot me in last. Hope to be able to leave North London by about 11.00am with luck. Will pay anyway if I cant make it as dont like to let you down - will phone tomorrow morning as realise you might not pick this post up so late.

Simon - thanks for organising today's fun and games. It was good to meet everyone and twas a nice day out with a good run up and back. I'm happy with the result (a calculated ~450 bhp) but worth saying that DSA's rolling road cell doesn't blow enough air into the intercoolers of air cooled 911s as I saw a peak intake air temp of 55 deg C during the third pull. That said James' and Jon's cars didn't seem to have any issue!

Thanks for organising today Simon - just a shame you couldn't participate! Well pleased with 524 bhp and 548 lb ft - didn't expect anything like that...

Sorry, did not even make it down to watch, other items needed to be attended to (and did not want to miss goodwood tomorrow)

maybe next time, sounds like you all had fun.

Simon, many thanks for oganising the day. Was fantastic, and really good guys at DS. Some very interesting cars and people... and when it comes to cars, modding and Porsches... was glad to see there's people out there even madder than i am!

I'm off for a few days next week with a mate for a blast round Scotland to do some "bonding" with the 911. Have a great time at Le Mans.

cheers
Nick

Again, as everyone said - Simon, cheers for organizing the whole day. Again, I'm one of the happy fellas, discovering a few hp's on my absolute stock car :)

Was nice to meet some people and put some faces to name ( or names to faces ) and Nick, thanks for the fries :)

Thanks to all those who turned up and I hope you had a good day. The BHP numbers are below - this does not tell the full story and I am sure you will be studying your own graphs for Torque, AFR etc etc for better insights.

It is planned to put more detail of the event in the June edition of PorscheclubGB magazine and thanks to John Ward and Penny for coming along.

Scores on the doors are:-

Lincoln - Porsche 930 (964 cams and 1 bar boost) - 320BHP
Phelix - Porsche 993TT (K16/26 turbos, and ECU) - 456BHP
Phil 993 - Porsche 996T (X50, Miltek Exhaust, remap) - 524BHP
Cueman - Porsche 996T (Manthey remap, Exhaust) - 469BHP
JBL 930 - Porsche 930 (993TT engine, "modifed") - 520BHP
James E - Porsche 965 (3.4L, EFI highly modified) - 551BHP
Proenca - Porsche 996T (standard) - 433 BHP
Madmoog - Porsche 964 (3.8L non-turbo) modified) - 322BHP
tj930 - Porsche 930 (SC cams, K27 Turbo) - 376BHP
Jim - Porsche 964 (3.6L non-turbo...to get GT1 engine!) - 264BHP

A huge thanks to DSA - I think they are now well practiced in fitting 4-wheel drive propshafts and Tom's intercooler!!!!

cheers Simon

Really enjoyed meeting everyone, cheers for organizing it Simon, we'll go back up there together when we're back from Le Mans.
Sorry i couldn't hang around for the last couple of pulls, although you were most likely all breathing a sigh of relief not having to hear me moan about giving up smoking!

Congrats Tom with 376bhp, that's quite impressive with just a turbo, cams and 1.0bar, you need headers and a better intercooler next mate, but your first purchase wants to be the WUR modification and solenoid to get that fuel right, it'll make a hell of a difference and give you the ability to dial in more fuel as you go further with your mods
