Rutland 2015 - THE 944 meet

ORIGINAL: MarkK There were a handful of cars running what was considered big power at the time, but they all seemed to go quiet, was a fun era if a bit expensive,A casualty or two along the way[&o]
Well mine hasn't reached the magic 400 bhp mark but isn't doing too badly and is still very much around [;)]
Is it pining for the Nurburgring though [:D].
It does seem to try and guide me Eastwards whenever I drive it - must be some sort of homing instinct ! [;)] I suppose I should take it there one day just for old times sake (for the car not for me !) Either that or finally get around to removing the 'Ring sticker from its rear. [8|]

ORIGINAL: 944Scott Ahem do you mean blue [;)]
Must be the dodgy photos! Each time I see that done I like it. Did use real 924 parts? I can't find any just the replicas that look a little rough shall we say.

ORIGINAL: MarkK I am quite biased also towards C7 KOE........last car(higher state of tune) standing (and still flying) from the "Dyno tuning wars" from the "rollers of truth" era????[:D]
I still remember our trip to the Wirral meeting many years ago during the Dyno Wars :ROFLMAO:. The illuminations from your PF97 brake pads in the dark were worth the trip alone. However my favourite car on Sunday has to be Tims 3.0L 16v Turbo monster [8D] an awful lot of work has gone into that engine

[:D] There's a couple of good clips online of it lapping there. Changing the subject how do you like the LR61 turbo, I've got the same turbo on a shelf but thought it would be a bit laggy on a 2.5 ?

Its genuine 924 vents but an original 944 badge panel. I did have a 924 panel which I took to the fabricators for him to cut up and use but it did not want to destroy the panel so he made the vents from scratch.

I might be on the hunt for a new turbo in the not to distant future if it gets bored of sitting on the shelf . . .

Andy at Promax queried exactly that as I too have one on the shelf! Certainly it needs a maf kit as the AFM won't be up to the job and that's one thing I don't have (yet).More impt things to do this year like sills and brakes but maybe next year.

I don't find it too bad at all but I suspect yes its because I have the Vitesse MAF fitted - I had the MAF before I changed the turbo and it certainly made a big difference to the lag on the standard K26/8 so no doubt it's doing the same for the LR61. As mentioned before elsewhere plan is to fit an upgraded Intercooler this year and that will be the last of the "under the bonnet" mods for me but hopefully that will helps things a bit too. Here's a link to some of those clips Blade7 mentioned of my car being driven with some gusto round the Ring by its previous owner when it was far more standard than now, in case anyone is interested http://www.northloop.co.uk/videos_turbo.htm

I remember that evening well -was there in the 964 with Nick in his Turbo--those "Roman Candle" wheels have never been forgotten.[:)]

I'm close to buying an M-Tune kit to fit at the same time as the turbo, just waiting for the exchange rate to improve a little.

[:D] Lindsey supplied it around 2007 but it hasn't got bored yet. It's got a #10 hotside which I think is NLA . There are much better options around now if you're prepared to do some mods to fit them.

I can't actually find a price for the m tune kit? Any idea. The vitesse was about 1500 last time I looked - I don't recall if this was fitted or not. ETA - found it. $1400 plus shipping and I suppose import fees. That's with 80lb injectors. 160 lb sounds huge! So £900 ish

ORIGINAL: MarkK Beaky is a Legend[:)]
[:D] Too kind Mark. But they were happy days when Wuff, Beaky, Lil and others roamed the land looking for fuel to burn and flames to make. My ears still smart from chasing Wuff through sundry tunnels. And then there was the Cup, Cup, Cup fracas. Sigh!.

And then there was the Cup, Cup, Cup fracas. Sigh!.
That could not be considered a "fracas". A fracas would have lead to the 944 register being suspended from the Club pending an investigation. We would then not have been invited to renew our memberships. [8|]

You can probably add £250 to that with postage and duties [:(].

ORIGINAL: Monkeythree I've sometimes struggled to appreciate the looks of the early cars but AUD986Y looks really really nice. The black centres on the cookie cutters, the script down the flanks and the stance all work perfectly together to make a really sweet looking car. Love it!
[:)] Kind words, thank you I'll pass them onto my car :) It was my first Rutland gtg and I assumed my car would blend in so rather chuffed it was noticed :)
