Saratoga Sunroof - Bulk-Buy

Having cross posted the good news to porsche968uk forum, I've received the following PM :

Hi Chris, I've tried to contact Tom Fripp via Tipec but his user no longer appears to be live. Can you add Tim Ward (timinchorley) to the PCGB list at all? Much appreciated.

I have just emailed Nick to be added to the list.

Thanks Gents. Can you both PM me your full names and I'll make sure Nick has the right details on Monday.

35 gone!

Look very 70's with the 4 mushrooms on the top. Wonder how noisy they'll be...
What's this about "mushrooms" - is this likely to be a problem ?

"mushrooms" ??

I hope / trust there aren't any ?

Antony

I'm not bothered about mushrooms, they're easy to get rid of (and quite tasty). However, they have been in shipping so long that they're likely coated with barnacles and they're a sod to shift. [8D]

[:D]. Back in the 80's I owned quite a few mk11 RS Escorts and my heart used to sink if one I was interested in buying had a aftermarket glass sunroof fitted. They usually had those bolt through fittings with the mushroom caps on top. The Ford factory glass roofs didn't, I don't think the earlier Saratoga panels did either.

Thanks for that Blade 7.

But isn't it surprising that nobody seems actually to know ??

I guess this has been so long in gestation that whatever comes out will do !

Hi all.

Following Chris Hazle's post, this is to prove I'm real :). Have emailed Nick Gardiner with my details. Can someone please put my name on the list before they all go?

Thanks, Tim.

Surely the mushrooms will be to fair in the recesses or sockets in the heads of the fastening screws? The standard roof is flat because the screws come up from underneath into hidden threaded recesses and don't poke through. With a glass roof you can't tap a thread directly into the glass so you either have to go from the outside down and fill the screwhead with a short mushroom or go from the inside up into a tapped longer mushroom. I guess....

If Pilks have found a neater solution, great, but as a manufacturing engineer I can live with the mushrooms idea.

Tim

can I confirm my name is now on the list? I haven't yet heard back from Nick Gardiner.

Don't worry Chris, Nick won't respond until Monday...if at all...it is a Sunday after all but he won't issue any invoices until I confirm the final numbers. I've seen your request and I'll make sure everyone is put on the list in the order that I receive a PM from them! I'll also confirm with Nick based on your emails so it's is fair and complete. I'll be speaking to Nick tomorrow to make sure the list is up to date and everyone that has requested an invoice is on the list!

Thanks Tim, all received!

Call me a cynic, but how's this for an idea.

Who lives closest to Nick and the shipment of sunroofs - and has ordered one? Contact Nick and arrange to go to Pilkingtons to meet him and to test fit one of the Saratogas. Just imagine the chaos (and costs) if 35+ people receive Saratogas that do not fit!!

Tom mentioned they are currently in Reading (presumably meaning Reading, Berks and not Reading, Pennsylvania!). I am close to Reading (Berks) and could be available during this coming week if that is of any help.

I'm on the list, (27) do I need to send another confirmation email, or should I just wait for the invoice?

Nope, you don't need to do anything..unless I speak to Nick tomorrow and he needs more info in which case I'll let you know so as not to confuse things.

We should have everything we need though as he has been keeping records of email addresses and names. Not sure how organised he is though so I'm keeping a close eye on things.

Hi Tom

David S (15 on the list) I didn't include my contact number when I sent my email in March [:)] do I need to update my details to Nick.

Dave S

Ok folks, I've got the final list, (sorry for any confusion on numbers and order, as I said, this is a bit of a hybrid list after people have dropped out and there are others from other forums in there too that Nick has collected along the way) with all names added and will send this to Nick this afternoon. Thanks to those that have contacted me over the weekend, I have made sure that everyone that has contacted me is on the list which is below. If you have gone through the process outlined and don't see your name please double check because I have been as thorough with all names as I possibly can to make sure nobody is disappointed. For those that haven't sent your full contact details to Nick (as requested in the instructions) please do so. This is because he will need this information for the invoice. If he does not have all the right contact details you won't be getting an invoice...or a roof (at least this is a real threat now!!).

As a reminder for those that have not given Nick (nick.gardiner@nsg.com) your full details, you need to make sure he has the following information:

[ul][*]Full name[*]E-mail address[*]Home Address[*]Delivery Address (if different from home address) or Choose your local Pilkington depot from this list (see [link=https://www.pilkington.com/en-gb/uk/automotive/automotive-glass-replacement/pilkington-automotive-uk-wholesale]here[/link] for details) for free pick up[*]Contact telephone number[/ul]Please do not PM me your full contact address and telephone details etc as it is Nick that needs this info, not me...if you do this I may sell your information to the interweb. According to Oli your children will then not be safe and you will all have to change your name to Frippo. I can assure you, this is not a pleasant thing so you have been warned!

As requested...Chris, you're a cynic :ROFLMAO:.

These have been made to the original pattern as it was Pilkington that made the originals. If you look at the TIPEC forum you'll see that these are a perfect fit and the modified catches (the parts we have been waiting ages to be fitted) are the additional modification that were made for the US units to stop the sound at speed. Unless the UK cars are different to the US ones I'm nots ure it is worth it but if you want to contact Nick I'm sure he would be accommodating to anyone near him.

I actually got it even more wrong than that and misheard Nick over the phone! They are in Redditch (as in south of Birmingham, UK), not Reading (either one!). Still, it's all down south to me.

For those that have been seeing unicorns over Reading, I want what you're on! [;)]

Probably wise, as long as you make it clear who you are so as not to confuse things.
