Saratoga Sunroof - Bulk-Buy

Just to update everyone, Nick has now taken payment for 26 units and is waiting for the remaining 8. I have asked the question about how long they wait especially given that they cannot force people to make payment and we are well over the 15 units required to get the highest volume discount available!

I am a bit perplexed by this statement. I have checked online and Pilkingtons debited my credit card on the 20th (6 days ago as of time of writing this post) and I now want the goods I have paid for. "Waiting for the remaining 8" is unacceptable, particularly given the lengthy delays already incurred in this process through no fault of the buyers.

Quite.

My payment was probably one of the 8, as Pilkington did not acknowledge the correct delivery address which I provided to them at the outset. That is now sorted and I made a BACS payment overnight. If they were not offering any further discount over the minimum 15 units required for the price agreed then it's a bit cheeky to not release the sunroofs to those who have paid.

Most of us have been incredibly patient, I could understand them taking that stance if say only 9 people came up with the cash, then there may have been some renegotiation required. But as it stands we have exceeded their minimum order, so there is no reason not to send the roofs out. This has not really been a great PR exercise by Pilkington!

Maybe they want to despatch them in "bundles", so are waiting to see if the remaining purchasers want to collect from the same depots as the rest of us??

My brother is now dealing with this and should be picking mine up from Crawley , as I'm in hospital from today having a new oil pipe fitted to the main oil pump, so won't even see my car for about 6 weeks

I was hoping to be the first with photos, seeing as I am collecting from Redditch (which I think is where they all are?) but instead I received an email this morning, 3 days after payment, to say I will be contacted once my order arrives in Redditch! :ROFLMAO:

Email Received from Pilkington today:

Hi Alan

We are looking at dispatching these orders out to the relevant branches for collection/delivery by the end of this week.

Regards

Karen

So.....Hopefully some time next week [&:]

I can't tell you how fed up I am of the mixed messages and shifting of goalposts I have been getting from Pilkington over the last 8 months or so. Apart from calling and e-mailing there's not much more I can do but feel free to join in the fun, you've got all the same contact details I have now and several voices might get the message over better than one! They have certainly proven themselves to be pretty slow and inefficient for this kind of business and it's fair to say that waiting on the final 8 defies logic and fairness. I again tried to push Nick last night to understand if this is really necessary and make it clear that it doesn't seem right to take the money and create another hurdle to supplying the goods which is out of our control.

Don't forget to keep your eye's on the prize gent's, we've got them this far!

Agreed. Please don't take my comment as having a pop at you, I appreciate your efforts in making this happen and that the delays and frustrations aren't of your making and beyond your control.

[:)] I didn't! In fact it's nice to feel that I'm not the only one getting really frustrated!

This is either a very clever euphamism for a serious operation (some kind of heart bypass perhaps?) or an amusing mis-type.

If it's the former, I hope you recover soon.

If it's the latter then I'm laughing at you.

:)

I now have an invoice, didn't get a chance to pay for it today but I will definitely be ringing Karen tomorrow.

FYI, it's the former - a repair job for a major aneurism on the inlet side of the right side of his heart. I believe they have to remove the swollen part of the vein/artery (whichever it is) and replace it with a piece of pipe from elsewhere! Anyway, he's in theatre tomorrow (Thursday), then a couple of days in intensive care and a few more in high dependancy care, so it will be a few days before we hear from Waylander again - unless, in his own words, it does not go to plan and an oija board is needed instead of a forum! His wife will be keeping us informed via a couple of members on 968uk.

They're on their way! Although not everyone has paid (there are still 3 remaining) it's been confirmed today. I assume that they'll all be ready for collection/be delivered this weekend/early next week! [:D]

I'll be honest... I know it's a free market so accept it is a real possibility but I'd be a little p#$$%d off if any of them do! Definitely if it's straight away! I've not made any money from this but put in a lot of work to benefit other 944/968 owners, for the sake of ownership, not lining of pockets!

It is a bit odd, but I feel I may miss this ongoing saga once we actually have the damn things.

No longer will there be the thrill of the email notification and the anticipation of logging in to see what new twist the plot has taken. I fear it will be rather like a much-loved television series coming to an end, but with no prospect of endless repeats on "Dave".

[;)]

I know the feeling... But apart from the race to the first photo, the "is my Saratoga leaking" thread that is sure to start, (and I am wondering about dripping condensation, but I may have the only one likely to live outside), apart from all that... I still really, really want a unicorn... I am sure I am not alone, so I think there is another group-buy opportunity, that could be just as long running...

And don't forget the film rights...
