Something i have been working on!

Its one of the things about the 44/68 which really annoys me. I am pretty short in the body but even with my Sparco Rev bolted in a fixed position as low as we can get it, I still find it is too high. The back of the seat is literally 2/3 inch or so of the floor pan so would need holes drilling in the floor of the car to get it any lower.

Does anyone know of any seat designs that have a really thin base? as this seems to be the limiting factor.

I was hoping that with runners fitted other people would be able to have a go in the car but the runners just put the seat too high,i can drive it but its not comfortable at all, really hope with the runners gone the driving position is ok,Neil's comment has worried me a bit[&:]-fingers crossed....
Also hoping with a removable steering wheel boss i will be able to get out of the car quicker aswell...!

I have some of the older Corbeau Forza seats (very cheap, metal framed, 8kg, base mounted) fitted to modified Fiesta runners and I need to space them up a bit. They are fairly old and the base material is pretty saggy so I can actually feel the floor of the car against my pert buttocks when I sit in them [;)]. You can't get any lower than sitting on the floor [:D]

Wow they have gone up in price - mine were £50 the pair from Ebay !

Mark, IIRC you're about the same height as me, 6'6ish...? I have my Corbeau Sprints bolted directly to the floor, and on a slight rearward lean and I love the driving position. I think it helps considerbly that I have a pretty dished steering wheel so it feels a lot closer, even with a tilted driving position. Does limit the sell-on field a little though! Just have to keep it[:D]

I digress, but I had a strong coffee before bed last night and spent the hours of 11.30pm to 1pm in bed planning my lottery-win 944 build - Promax V8, stripped and blasted shell, fibreglass panels, KW's, 17" BBS RS's, GT3 leather buckets....aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh

Ben you need to get out more [:D]
Seriously though a lottery win would see me owning some very nice cars mainly Pork !

I think a lottery win would see me straight into one of the Le Mans cars [8D][8D][8D][8D]

Mark - great thread (car not so bad either!!!)

Also planning a run out with Goldtrack on 25th with the Tango mobile -- see you there, we could share a garage, did u book one?

Just got car back from EMC ready for trackday on thursday this week (hope the weather perks up a bit) car fitted with new discs all round,Pagid race pads, cooling pipes fed from front pu intakes, both main steering arms changed for new aswell....$,oil drop and filter plus other bits of fettling. Most importantly Alex at EMC has managed to adjust the seat side mounts and fix the seat to the floor in such a way that the driving position is perfect for me,the adjustable runners i had fitted before made the seat too high and not far enough back, position perfect now(thanks Alex E!) really pleased, the whole driving experience of the car is transformed.. on the road i can even have the base cushion in now, think i might have to buy some ear defenders- i didn't think the car was that noisy but a couple of times since driving the car back from Birmingham i havn't been able to hear what my wife has been saying so well,or maybe its just selective hearing kicking in..
The last potential hurdle is on wednesday, thats medical day(last stage of novice license application).. a pass means me and car gets a chance at being raced,a fail means its confined to trackdays whilst i own it.Fingers crossed.Really don't like going to doctors[:-].

I really enjoy hearing all the mechanical sounds on my car, but I find anything over about 30mph for more than a couple of minutes is not a good idea without some kind of protection (noise cancelling headphones are working for me at the moment). It gets even worse when you go for a plastic rear screen (although I guess your exhaust might be a bit quieter than mine). I must get round to putting a sound pressure meter in soon and seeing what it peaks at.
