SPA + RING TRIP OCT 2012 URGENT

ORIGINAL: 996_STEVO

Nothing unusual, this happens all the time when Fingers Campbell is on the track
I was looking to see if there was a blue/white RS in the background....[:D]

Its 130dB pass-by at the ring. Just noticed it on Darrens attendees email.
That is decent!
Bit restrictive on the fun side when you have a noise meter on a straight and can't go full chat.

So is nobody going down from Aberdeen?

Graeme theres another 3 going from Aberdeen ...Martin Ritchie /G Munro /C Hills but i dont know there plans ( 2/ 997gt3rs+4s )

Anybody taking a van or the like that could carry a set of Michelin Cups, I know if I fit the cups it will be a washout. So planning to fit PS 2s to be on the safe side and tempt the sun out.

im totally full and S Turbos in his x5 as well ... to all N.B hes not taking his van this year G

No bother Gordon, main thing is the Ring is paid and its on. Hopefully Spa will follow. Might play it safe and go and put the Pilot Sports 2 on.

prob safest .. if its wet .... but the cups are the track tyre the pilots might o/heat if its warm think i would decide on last minute weather forecast thats why i now trailer

Getting close!

Anyone leaving for the ferry from Edinburgh/East and want to join myself and Don travelling down?

Not yet booked meals on the ferry, any particular time for the table on the way out?

Donald - nothing is booked yet as such, we have only pre-paid for the buffet, so no set time. I imagine there's a number of guys coming from further into sheep worrying territory down the east coast- you could meet up with them somewhere, or if you want to trundle along with the guys with trailers (when I say trundle, its a brisk trundle) then myself, gordon and stevie will be meeting somewhere around Scotch Corner - will have to work out the times. Last time we stopped for a late lunch here:

its only a couple of miles from scotch corner and might be a worthwhile meeting point for those who can stand the sedentary pace (aye right!) of us who are towing!!

woa woa woa, where's all the love for us sheep worriers :)

I used to be able to sneak up on my fluffy friends but now I've got my PF discs the sheep hear me coming from miles off with the rattle and squealing. Ah well at least in my mind now I can "try" and outbrake Fingers Campbell without worrying about destroying the PCCB's :)

Donald, I think Graeme, Carl and me are coming down in convoy although nothings been arranged yet. I think Graeme's away on holiday just now (sneaky trip on the Scuderia Hanseat ring course?) and I'm at work abroad.

I assumed we would look out for 3 lunatics with trailers and tag along :)

Is it worth taking a jerry can? I saw a thread on Pistonheads where someone said the fuel situation at Spa was a farce recently and they were waiting an age, just wondered if it would be worth filling one up?

Cheers,
Chief Sheep Worrier

Fuel has never been a problem for us at Spa before - and if you're on road tyres you could nip out the circuit and fill up at the petrol station outside and be back in 10 mins, so a couple of options....I reckon with your scaffolding and a passenger you'll struggle for space to put a can in.....whatever you do don't fill it up before going on the ferry - they don't like cans to be full...

Ah well if you've never had any problems that's good enough for me. It did cross my mind that driving with a jerry can on my dads knee might not be the brightest idea in the world :)

Martin theres enough room to get jerry canin behind seats save u driving with it between ur legs think price is 1.70ltr or more abroad never had an issue just cover it over never know ill be taking afew cans over as the ring is sometimes a pain but Spa has c/card pumps on circuit ...easy no doubt ST will b taking his special rocket launching fuel with him (109) as if hes not got enough power in that beastie Yes Mr Munro prob getting 1-1 tuition he did that the last time for 3days !!! think i need to join him or keep my navigator. fat boy Greig out of the car not long to go Managed get Lindsay mac a place at Ring and Spa on the wed very lucky man at this late stage hes got a 997 gt3 some competition for u cheers G p.s theres also G Mc Craib going from Aberdeen in cayman s but dont have his details maybe he can send u mail ???

Behind my seats? I thought that was where I was going to stash your Bacardi :)

I'm sure even with his rocket fuel if you've got your special navigator Greig he'll struggle to get past :)

That's cool you've managed to get the guy Lindsay into Spa as well, the more the merrier, When you say competition for me, is he a fanny as well and is a competition for the slowest lap :)

Cheers,
Martin

Absolutely delighted that Gordon got me a spot. [:D] New Pads fitted, Geo done, just a quick oil change the day before we leave. Tyre choice is my only concern now, stuck a post on pistonheads in case anybody was taking a van or had space, I would pay to get either my cups or PS2s transported. Cups are new and the PS2 have only 1000 miles on them, my type of 1000 miles not Gordon's. Abandoned the idea of removing the passenger seat as I fancy some tuition on the Ring.
There is every chance Martin I will beat you to the wooden spoon award"¦..LOL
I just have the half fat version of the GT3, so yours will be much quicker!

What is the plan for the Scottish contingent, I am sure I might be able to keep up with the guys with the trailers, when and where are you meeting up?
