I should finish this thread by telling u all that the exhaust i have now that ive gotten used to it is very good. I had gotten used to the newer version on the current models and therefore not realised the slight difference with my model. Also removing the brown plug in the engine bay, i feel, isnt necessary as it then doesnt sound like a porsche. Its all a personal thing i guess but im happy with the PSE as it was intended. Cheers for all the feedback.
P.S having mentioned i was a member of PCGB i got £50 off the service bill which pays for my subs for another year so im happy all round!

had mine about a year costs 1300 from opc Colchester. Apparently they have put the cost back up to over 2 grand. its possibly the best option they do

I think the jury is out on that one. I paid about £1400 factory fitted and am just a little disappointed. Not sure I would pay £2000. However, it is fair to say that one only really hears it at high revs; something I have not tried yet as I have still only done 800 miles. It looks awful too in 997.2 version.

Derek, Seems more mixed views for the Gen2 997.

But for this gentleman and his gen 1 05 the sports exhaust is great. Mine always made a good noise, even at low revs.

Derek's point is also relevant - the exhaust makes more noise the more miles you do. It'll take a good 3k miles after fitting before it really gets on song[]

Had it fitted on my 06' C2 almost as soon as I got the car, best thing I have added. The only thing you need to do is unplug the little brown plug (top right in the engine bay), push it gently back on and put a bit of tape around it to stop the crud getting in, and voila, your system is around 20% louder right across the rev range, and the pesky noise controlling computer is incapable of spoiling the wonderful noise.

Go find a wall to accelerate past or a tunnel..... you won't be dissappointed []

I had my gen 2 c4s pse fitted the other day and foundthe exact opposite to what is said above, my exhaust sounds much louder on tick over and low revs and then gets a bit quieter higher up in the rev range.
Im more than happy with it and like the look too.

Have a sports exhaust on my 997 and sound awesome when the sports button is switched on! Neighbours are not to happy though!!

I have the PSE on my gen2 and it's mixed feelings coming from a E92 M3 with Miltek it was never going to compete on the sound front.

Things I like are

1. The dry clatter at parking speeds and low revs
2. Slight popping on lift off
3. Nicely resolved howl starts at 4K+
4. No drone!

Things I don't like

1. It isn't loud enough
2. There is no crescendo at the top end (more to do with the engine I guess)
3. The computer turning it off at certain road speeds.
4. The tips aren't that attractive

Went out today over the moors you really need to have the window down to get the full effect in the cabin it also helps if the roads are lined with dry stoned walls as the sound reverberates off them...it sounded great...... []

Now, Thats the spirit [] walls and tunnels and were kids all over again.... super isn't it []

To keep it loud you can remove the brown plug [] helps save on fuel too... being as you don't have to rev it quite so much []

Paul, your point above im sure i tried but it was too load although i had the plug off completely rather than hook it back on. Shud i clip it back on but not too tightly or leave it lose but attached?

Have to agree with most thoughts above I have sports exhaust on my gen1 C4S and it sounds great - 1st option to have after that go with the sport short shifter.OPC Colchester fitted that last week and makes a noticeable difference and 1st class service from Colchester (got PCGB discount)
Sure old news but seems the new 'Paddles' available on the new gen2 turbo are to be rolled out across the range - may get a few PDKers asking to swap over?

Hi Guys

Have recently acquired my Gen 2 997 C4S with PDK. I am thinking of fitting the sports exhuast. Had it on Gen 1 C2S with short shift and loved both options. For those who have had there's retro fitted, do you think it's worth the money and has any body had any good deals from an OPC for fitting?

Regards PDK, I am still getting used to it but for anybody testing it in standard mode, you will be disappointed unless you are expecting an economic GT cruiser, at which its great. Switch it to sport mode or sport plus which selects the race mode option and the PDK holds each gear right up to the top end rev range. It also changes the throttle response and makes the car extremely quick. Switch to manual mode and you have total control of every gear. So, if you take a PDK car out for a test drive, make sure it has the sport chrono plus option, and for gods sake, switch it on, you will not be disappointed.

I find the steering buttons work perfectly well and I am not personally sure I would spend the £2000.00 replacing it with paddle shifters. I am training my fingers to push down right hand only and pull up left hand only. The buttons are perfectly placed on the steering wheel and shifting down a couple of gears before slamming it into a corner is extremely satisfying and brings a grin to my face every time. I loved my C2S manual but this is a totally different experience and I cannot wait to get it on the track and try it out.

My PDK CS was fantastic round the ring this year. Compared to my other excursions in manual cars, it proved very effective both in manual and even in auto mode across Sport and Sport +. The buttons are fine, I wish people would get over this [] subject. Yes Porsche caved in to the journos and no doubt some people will go down the route of spending a small fortune retrofitting paddles but it's just not necessary.

Anyway, after a drive today in mine today, I'm still loving it [] in manual, auto mode etc. The one thing I will say is that if I was buying a pre-gen2 I would have gone with a stick shift as tiptronic IMO just didn't do it for me at all.

Glad you are enjoying your car Simon. Yes, I agree that whilst paddles would be nice, the buttons work perfectly well. At first, I found myself going the wrong way up the gearbox but you soon work that one out. I agree about the tiptronic on the gen 1 car, I had driven one on 3 or 4 occasions and never really felt in control, the PDK is so totally different.

The point I was making is that some people appear to be testing the PDK but not using the sport & sport plus buttons, so the car is behaving like a grand tourer, hence the early gear shifting

I've driven a few PDK equipped cars , the system makes sense after you have driven them for a while. Bit like a horse you pull back to slow down (go down the box) and push forward to go up the box. Using the wheel buttons on the newer cars puts the system into manual , so the car holds the revs in each gear longer. Alternatively put the stick across to manual and use it as a sequential shift or use the wheel buttons , either way the gear is held until the rev limiter or you intervene. I like the idea of being able to brake and change down in one operation as you approach a bend , then hold the gear through the bend. I found the secret at a junction is to leave some space between the car in front or the junction boundary , then release the brake as the opposite lights change allowing the gear to engage. Then you can move off without hesitation when the gap appears or the lights are green. The only concern is that its easy to select neutral when driving if you forget the stick is in drive rather than manual and decide to use the lever to change up a gear. With sport plus selected the changes are more agressive and more like a manual.
