SW Weekend 17th -18th April 2010

Firstly, I hope everyone had a safe journey home albeit with a bit more traffic than we saw on our drives! Secondly, we had a great time and it was lovely to meet some new "let's get out and enjoy our cars" friends. Of course the weather did play it's part and we couldn't have asked for better. I'm very pleased that the plans seemed to work and we didn't lose anyone or have anyone significantly separated from the pack (must have been the excellent notes!)[;)]
Even the blue and yellow checkered interloper who stayed with us to the ice cream stop atop Dartmoor contained two massive petrolheads.[:D]
Thanks again to everyone for making it a memorable weekend - I've only just realised how few photos I took (must have been the worry!) so I hope someone took some more. Here are a few though..........

Here's to the next time![:)]

Thanks to Alan and Brenda for organising the weekend, went like clockwork including the most beautiful weather and superb countryside. I'm sure others will post some great 997 pics but here's the team photo

Good to meet up with old and new friends and enjoyed some excellent drives

A bit more traffic coming home than expected!!
But possibly more of a shock after a weekend of wonderfully clear and entertaining roads [8D] The M5 just doesn't have the same appeal anymore [:)]

My thanks to Alan and Brenda and the whole team of people who joined in to make the weekend another special one for the register..
Like Clive I'd like to add a special thank to Kevin and his team at the Exeter OPC, who started the weekend off with a really warm ( and bacon butties) that continued throughout the whole weekend, even down to the rozzers [&:]
They found a leak in a radiator and supplied me with a top up coolant that allowed me to complete the weekend - and that from an OPC outside of my own network area- so to me counts as really good support to the club and the marque[:)]

A warm welcome to the new faces that joined us over the weekend and we sincerely hoped it was worth your time and effort that we appreciate everyone puts in to attend these events- let alone organise them [:)] and as ever thanks to those that continue to join and support the events, a long drive if its just Alan and me on our own [;)]

My apologies for not being 100%, not sure of the cause but happy to say the carvery stayed with me all the way home [;)]
I'll upload my pictures tomorrow and post them up.

I too would like to add my thanks for a fantastic weekend. We should do it more often. Apologies to Alex for giving him the hoovering effect on the fast bits - I thought that only happened with the Scud - no pics I'm afraid so I look forward to seeing all of yours

What a great weekend! Super bunch of people with some new faces joining in, fantastic weather and stunning scenery adding up to some great driving - many thanks indeed to Alan and Brenda for all their work in preparation and organizing, and to Gary and Jo for all usual brilliant 997 register fun (and very glad to hear that Gary (and Jo!) didn't have to view Gary's Sunday lunch again). Anyway great fun and hopefully a good prelude to our next trip to the IoM. All the best, John and Pam

A few pictures from the weekend from me.. Nice being able to get a few shots of the group for a change [:)]

A really warm welcome from Kevin Tuner at the Exeter started off a great weekend on the Friday with us enjoying quick car inspections (which did find a few issues for some of us) me included with yet another leaking radiator(Rob has obviously passed his good luck onto me[]) through to an offer on Nitrogen filling our tyres

The weather stayed with us all weekend and on Saturday it was great to see Alex and his brother join us and show such commitment by offering to be the rear marker in the fat Golf estate... [;)] It did sound rather superb though [8D]

Even the locals came out to join us [:)] - It took some hard work to get this photo [;)]

Red seemed a popular colour [:D]

But the hard work resulted in a lovely shot of the Red brigade on some of the wonderful flowing roads.. [8D]

A wonderful Lunch stop setting where even the locals enjoyed viewing the scenery
The Hotel were out taking photos, so you never know if we'll star in a brochure...
The black writing on the hotel was worth a point in the evenings quiz [:)]

The weather does make things look so wonderful in the UK and makes villages look even prettier- especially with the addition of some extra colour...

A superb weekend of social entertainment and driving wonderful cars in stunning scenery, well done to Alan and the Bus driver for some excellent planning.[:D]

The end of the weekend line-up

Like to add my (and Ross') thanks for a wonderful weekend of driving and company.

We too returned via the Dartmoor National Park. Slow but very pretty!

Ironically I may have been caught just 30 mins from home by a mobile camera van. I accelerated passed a very erratically driven 2-seater convertible on the A303 dual carriageway (to get round him quickly) and spotted a mobile camera van parked quite far up the road. I immediately dropped my speed but I think he may have got me from long range, especially as there was no traffic in front. Hmmm, 2 weeks of sweating...

Anyway, here are a few pics - note the policeman investigating at the top of the hill!

No, the on the move ones are with Ross' old little digital compact camera.

Yeh, I was thinking of offering to sell John that pic full sized (with edited out Boxster) for if he ever wants to sell the GT3 - he'd probably get a couple of grand more for it privately because of the pic! [;)]

Clive - looks like I have been rumbled.

I have only just got my car back - after the accident damage repair, the car needed some TLC - Coil packs, repairs on the leather seats, etc. So I have been sans beast for a while. We did want to come on the SW trip but Jacqui had to work the Saturday. So i had to make do with painting everyones cars red overnight........[8|]

We are on the IOM trip if you just happen to be in the vicinity at the same time.......[:D]

John - Fab photo of your car. Just goes to show that Black with an aero kit is one of the best looking options for any 997 but of course I am biased [8D]

Tom,
Glad the motor is all back together again .
IOM - we will be heading in the opposite direction, but I trust you'll have a great time!
Regards,
Clive
