The 2012 PCGB Club Championship

It was wet for qualifying - full timing on TSL: http://www.tsl-timing.com/?loc=club&season=2012&series=BRSCC&event=club&source=ed_BRSCC&eventid=122232 Sumpter up front - there speaks experience - but Paul Follett at P5 (first in class) for both races.

Well done Paul F for a class win, can't wait to hear your race report as the timing says you nudged out Alex by 15/100ths of a second. Must have been a pretty exciting end to the race. Well done mate, I am genuinely chuffed right now.

Brilliant day Mr F,well done!An ultimate day in the office like we said eh? (I owe you that tenner now[;)])

Thx guys ........ never known a raceday like it ! Mark, it might well be £20 for the brace of class wins!! -- and well done on your 2 podiums AND fastest lap in Race 1. Just back home, for now I will let the results speak for themselves :- see: http://www.tsl-timing.com/brscc/2012/122232pcb.pdf NB quali was fully wet, Race 1 was in some light drizzle with parts of the track drier than others, Race 2 whilst overcast was run with dry track conditions. Oh, before I forget the 2 races were filmed and will be edited into a magazine programme on MOTORS TV, will advise when it will be broadcast.

Great weekend, well done chaps! [:)] Nice pics Steve, looking forward to watching your footage too [8D]

Great racing guys-pity about the 996 at the chicane & hope the Boxster driver is OK after the incident after Cascades-the front engined cars were amazing-really planted-if the 996's look that threatening, handicaps could be introduced.

Well done Paul - upwards and onwards. Well done to our guys Ben and Marcus too - a 3rd, 5th and 7th is excellent - both with fastest laps less than a second behind the winners and only 4 * Club sport cars faster (developed by Porsche) and the fastest Boxsters to boot. We had a real problem because this is our first time at Oulton with these cars and in the wet (and they have only had one race before anyway) and it was the first race event for Marcus in our other Boxster (still nursing a damaged shoulder) - very tough in such slippy conditions. All the weather forecasts were for dry weather - so when it was wet for qualifying we bought wet tyres but then realised we had no opportunity to scrub off the release agent (that makes them super slippery) for the very short quaifying session and with so little experience of the cars in the wet at Oulton - decided it was safer to run with the dry tyres (unlike most who qualified ahead of us) and this put us a bit further back on the grid than you need to compete at circuits like Oulton Park - just one of those things!. We also had no idea what our fuel consumption would be in the wet (as it was dry in practice the previous day) so had to run heavy (rather than risk being underweight) - but we will know those figures next time out there. With all our main rivals (except Pete Morris) having cars that have been raced for years and at all the circuits and different conditions - I am very well satisfied - well done everyone! I had to feel for the EMC team after showing such promise with their new car again and still not getting the result they deserve - hopefully their luck will change soon. Lots of work for us to do before Donnington in 4 weeks time - to try and get some more out of the cars. Baz

What a great day, despite the weather. I couldn't haven't been more pleased for you Paul (F). Great racing and well deserved class wins. [:)] I was also really pleased for my buddy Paul Ward who survived a severe ticking off by the COTC (after quali) to show some determined racing from the back of the field to pick of cars in front. He's getting the hang of this racing lark now. [8D] And of course, I'm really pleased that Mark S is showing how good 964s can be by winning both races [:)]. However, Pete M's 996 looked devastatingly quick in race 2. If they can get the reliability I can see the 996 being unstoppable as the season progresses. Well done Paul, great results. Heard there were a few accidents - hope all drivers are ok and damage not too severe. Love the pics Steve. Hope to see you all at Donington

ORIGINAL: Steve Brookes I was also really pleased for my buddy Paul Ward who survived a severe ticking off by the COTC (after quali)...
Can I ask what the bad Mr Ward did to deserve being sent to the naughty step? Some off-track excursions?

Paul had a couple or three spins during wet quali. Mostly because the car is new to him and first time in the wet. He thinks the tyre pressures were not ideal for the wet quali. Also, being a one man band, Paul has to do everything himself and it all gets a bit frantic in the short quali i.e. there's no chance for him to drop in to the pits and adjust tyre pressures etc. Next time I'm there I'll give him a hand to do that sort of stuff. During the races Paul drove impeccably and I'm sure the COTC would have been very pleased with him. [:)]

Yes, he was using Druids to practice his spinning and it came in very handy for him on the first bend at the start of race 1. ( see vid ) I have the smallest engine out there, 25kg overweight, this was my fourth ever race meeting and the track day on Tuesday was the first time at Oulton so I am chuffed to bits with the result of 5/10 in class and wheel to wheel with some class 1 cars. Had a great time at Brands but learnt so much more at Oulton. Like Paul, I am a one man band with Elaine to help out where she can and also like Paul, ever improving. Just a word of justified praise for our team of technicians too for getting the clutch out of one car and checked between races (checking a rattle that was a loose rivet and fixing it) – all 5 working together in harmony in difficult conditions and getting the car running OK for the last race - even I was really impressed and I know how good they are. Customers wanting clutch changes in little over an hour please realise there were 5 all working on it flat out without stopping for anything and of course all the parts were only recently assembled and copper greased etc and easy to undo - not rusty or snapped exhaust bolts etc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously though the pace our guys worked at was awesome and they could not keep that up for more than an hour or so in any one day! Well done again though guys. Baz .
