The money no object garage question(s)

ORIGINAL: Fen

I'm still mulling my last 6 slots and there isn't likely to be a Jag in there, but I am semi seriously tempted to buy a Mk2 in the real world as down here there are some surprisingly affordable ones that are still usable. Usable as in perfectly fit and healthy and not so concourse they can't go out in the rain.

(off topic slightly again - apologies)
My dad recently sold his '65 S-Type 3.8 Manual. Spotless when he got it (early 90s) but he lost interest and it was in such a sorry state that I declined taking it on.

Real shame as I loved the experience of taking it on the 1st part of our Honeymoon. S-Type isn't considered as pretty as the MkII but the E-Type rear suspension it used was far more sophisticated. Made a fabulous noise, handled pretty tidily and discs all round meant decent brakes too. Made me realise how much of an event driving such a car can be even without venturing anywhere near the limits.

Initial thoughts.... and strangely not a single hyper-car in the list. [&:]

1. Audi RS4. Daily hack.
2. Cayenne Turbo S. For"¦erm"¦ the dogs?
3. 997 GT3 comfort spec with rear seats & belts added. Practical supercar.
4. TVR Griffith 500 (on 17"s and maybe taken out to 5.3, with some straight through pipes). Gurgling bruiser.
5. Radical SR3. Tactility fix.
6. Lotus Sunbeam. Nostalgia - first wild-ride.
7. 7-litre Lister Le-Mans. One on Pistonheads at the moment "" fantastic.
8. Stratos. Full Alitalia livery and tarmac spec wheels.
9. SWB Audi Quattro Sport. Just being greedy
10. Jaguar D-Type. Bwaaarp. edit (already!) Jaguar XJ13. [8D]
11. Can't believe I forgot the gorgeous 288GTO.

I reckon you can do this with cars from the Porsche stable only so here goes:

1. Cayman S - everyday run around
2. Boxster RS60 - for the lovely GF, and because I like the colour combo
3. Cayenne S - I don't have dogs or kids, but you know, one day.
4. 911 Carrera S - weekends away in the Cotswolds
5. Panamera 4S - weekends away with two other friends, assuming they don't mind the styling [:D]
6. 968 CS - for UK track days
7. 997 GT3 Clubsport - for European track days
8. 924 Turbo - weekend DIY project, love the alloys they had.
9. 1972 2.4s 911 Targa in silver - just because they are ace.
10. Any 962 - for a punt at the historic Group C race series.
11. Audi RS2 - for mountain biking trips. Cheating I know, but it's nearly a Porsche [;)]

Lotus Cortina Mk 1
Austin Healey Bonneville Sprite
Lamborghini Jarama S
Porsche RS 2.7
1650 Anglia
Riley 14-6 Kestrel
Alfa Romeo RM Targa Florio
Ford Consul Capri GT
Twincam Austin 7
Bentley Continental R for Jane (I don't mean an Audi)

Only 5 to go :)

Mmm, i've not given this anywhere near enough thought and would probably change every day, but here goes.

1. E-Type mk1 cab (modernised suspension, brakes and engine of course)
2. Bugatti Veyron just for the sheer hell of it and the fact it is an engineering marvel. Just for the fact that from a standing start you can give a Mac F1 a 120mph head start and it'll still beat it to 200mph - and it is still a pretty good car round the corners despite its weight.
3. 993 turbo, don't know why, just love it
4. The new 997 turbo with PDK true supercar performance without the need to be a superstar to drive
5. My 944 turbo after being dropped off with John Mitchel with a blank cheque for him to go to town on
6. Lambo Miura
7. Magnum Ferrari Just for the memories (can't remember the model - 308GTB? probably would be a major dissapointment in real life though)
8. Caterham RS500 track slag (with lessons on how to drive it like the Stig)
9. Last encarnation of the 2.2ltr Lotus Esprit or Lotus Carlton
10. Proper mini - de-seamed, 1340cc engine and gone to town on
11. Fully loaded Audi RS6 Avant for the sensible car
12. Mini Cooper S for the wife

No Astons - they are too pretty to want to drive, i'd just want to sit and look at it all day so no point.

Now my 12 no expense spared aricraft hangar across the way from my garage would be a sight to behold.

1. 944 turbo
2. Audi Quattro (ex Hannu Mikkola)
3. Mini Cooper (ex Paddy Hopkirk)
4. F1 car (ex James Hunt - for Festival of Speed of course)
5, Ferrari Dino
6. Lamborgini Merak
7. Lancia Integrale
8. Alfa Romeo Berlinetta (1953)
9. BMW 3.0 CSL
10. De Tomaso Pantera
11. Lotus Exige
12. 911 GT3

Warning: this list is likely to change overnight [:)]

I think I would have:

Original Fiat 500 (or an abarth variant)
Porshce 944 turbo
Lamborghini Diablo SV or SE30
Lamborghini Miura SV
Bugatti T35
Caterham R500
Porsche 356 Speedster
B-Engineering Edonis
Noble M400
Pagani Zonda F clubsport
Mclaren F1
Lockheed SR71 blackbird (not a car I know but I just love the look of them)

For the Garage with just one car only it would have to be an Abarth 1000 TC just because it's so impractical I hardly need to make up excuses to do any runs in the car that actually have a point to them

That's not my actual list, but merely demonstrates that these days there's a Porsche for everything. [;)]

Rules are only guidlines and were made to be broken. If we all followed rules we would have no fun in our cars for a start.[;)]

If we're bending the rules then I'll add an airworthy Concorde to my list, please[:D]
In that case, I'd like my 11th model to be Heidi Klum please.

Now you're talking George, although you might have to heat your garage.....[;)]

Heidi Klum - Nah, she's spoiled goods since Flavio Briatore has had his sweaty mits on her!! It'd be like buying your dream car second hand only to find out that the previous owner was a chain smoker and the interior had that dirty smoking smell and tary feel engrained into it. I'd feel grubby everytime I took it for a spin.

So, let me get this straight - Heidi Klum comes up to you and says 'Hi Scott, can I move in to your garage?' and you say no.
Hmmm.

Unfortunately, it's not an issue for me any more. Beloved has seen my contribution to the discussion and she's kicked out the Z3 I had reserved for her, along with Heidi. She's moving a TVR and Richard Gere in instead. She said it was OK to keep the Johnson's Baby oil though. Don't know why now.
