This Sums Up Everything That I HATE About 944s Now...

Stupid wheels, sh*te steering wheel: charvered-up to the max. I know that Im critical of anyone who tries to make their car look 'newer' or 'more up to date', because they arent new, so stop kidding yourself and trying to kid me: but rubbish like this takes the biscuit.

I had to go and make a cup of tea before I could finish this post.

Its 'ready to race' apparently: round the local retail park tomorrow night perhaps.....

Please make this stop.

Can we safely assume you won't be bidding then ?
No hold on silly me, I see his plan now he does it up like that so someone like YOU has to buy it just for the pleasure of dropping a piano on it ?

To be honest I think you should sit down and have a nice large glass of wine [:D]

OK you have just made my mind up tonight. I was thinking of sticking aftermarket box side skirts on my after ripping off the awful looking side underskirts that were on mine when I bought it (the ones on it were really badly fitted and awful and the car looks better without). It defo needs something though. i think I am definately going back to original after looking at those pics. I love the look of my 944 especially it's big fat arse when I look in my wing mirror. I never tire of looking at that.

Hmmmm....how can I put this?

I kind of like it? [&o]

There, sorry. I will fall on my sword.

I love the Martini colours on a white car. Hate the wheels and headlights, but then I hate most non-original wheels on 944s but some of my best friends have them.

If the car is as described, and has actually been owned by a keen, but aesthetically-challenged, enthusiast then it could be a good buy. And easily turned back into a proper 944

I'd keep the stripes though. Couldn't drive it in public without feeling an idiot, but I love them. Also love this one:

Oh come on Paul I'm only 36 and still love the look of the 944. OK a lot similar to the 924 but soooo much different. Especially the turbo!! I have modded mine but all in the engine and gauges that look subtle in the dash. those pics where just horrid!!

Hmm those wheels, side skirts and headlights would have to go (along with at least some of the silvery bits stuck to the interior) but maybe, just maybe, there is a decent 944 under all that struggling to get out ? Am liking the "Gulf" car on Mr McN's post, quite fancy those GTS lights if only they worked a bit better for road use.

[&:] Says engine has been upgraded to 3 litre - so that'll make it an S.2 then? :ROFLMAO:

Handy to have a 'bullet proof exhaust' for when you're being shot at I suppose, and the 'ultimate handling' must be ultimately.....unpleasant on 19" rims with the lowered and stiffened suspension [:'(]

People are actually offering him money for that? I guess the world would be a boring place if we all liked the same thing mind you...

Would be pretty easy to return to a fairly stock looking car wouldn't it? The wheels, badge panel & lights are the worst problems with the car. I've never liked sill covers on any 944, but they look less offensive on white ones (my favourite colour for a 924/944). On the positive side, at least he hasn't left it to rot....

no pics of the engine bay - I'd be surprised if there was an S2 motor in there. (remember that "924 with 968 engine" I posted from pistonheads a couple of months back?). I thought it was a fair old job to fit a 3.0 in an early car?

It amuses me when faults are listed as "easy fix" - like the passenger window in this instance - why not get it done then?

Tell yer what. Whatever yer opinion, it looks to have been done to a good standard, and it's had thousands spent on it. Not to mention man-hours.

I will NOT be bidding though...

Some significant money has been spent on it for sure - I don;t know what seats those are, but they could be pricey. Those wheels (dire as they are) won't have come cheap. That headlight arrangement (is it a one-off, or have other such examples been seen?) would have been either expensive or a lot of work (and possibly both). Hoop 968 spoiler at the back too. You could probably buy it (£1200 at the mo) and break it and make a profit ... perhaps.

Interesting that it is pictured at what looks like a classic car meet. E30 BMW next to it (could be M3), with other interesting things parked in the background. The 944 would have stood out like Graham Norton's adam's apple.

I don't like the wheels (inside or outside versions) or any of the other "improvements" he's made.

I do like the Martini stripes though [8D] ~ (I know they didn't offend you either).

I considered adding these to our Alpine S2 when we had it ~ they're not dear and I thought it would be a giggle to stick them on for a while. I was concerned that they'd look a little incongruous on an otherwise std car though, and wifey hated the idea. And since I had officially bought the car as a gift to her..... [] [8|]

What's not to like? [8D] (OK the American front repeaters could go and vents instead of fogs but otherwise ).

Of the first car - My main issue is it is a sheep in wolfs clothing. A car can look as ridiculous as it likes provided it has the grunt to rip the doors of anything it comes across - Think GT3. Outrageously stupid looking car on the road, all spoilers and wings and race car paraphernalia. It sits there shouting "I'M A RACING CAR REALLY" which it can because it is. Unfortunately exhibit A is doing the shouting but isn't a racing car.

Agree with John and McNulters. That looks the poodle's plums.

I wonder if a Gulf Orange stripe down the middle of a baltic blue S2 would look as good? It's almost worth a try ...

I`m afraid I have to agree with Trev.

I dont like the front panel and a lot of what others dont like is simply bolt on like wheels and steering wheel............BUT

Those seats look like 968 CS seats (they may be), it has 968 mirrors, it has 968 door handles, it allegedly has a new 3L engine (968??) and who is to say it hasnt, it has a turbo rear spoiler a bridge spoiler and they look like Strosek side skirts all nicely painted etc etc. The roll cage may be a lash up but somehow I bet it isnt for I get the feeling that more money than sense has one into this car if the descriptions are correct. Someone will absolutely love it and it will get attention wherever it goes (which is cool in my book) so fair play.

I`ve seen an awful lot worse - simply google `Barry boys` [&o][&o]

Until viewed its hard to judge properly however it looks miles better than some rusty old (pure) 944`s that are running around and someone has spent (possibly naively) a lot of hard earned on it. It`ll go to some 24 year old who will meet in Tesco`s car park, all his mates will love it and one day, maybe one day one or many of them will buy a proper 944 and join the club.

My son and all his mates with their turbo nutter/charged Polo/Golf/Rocco`s etc all, without question, still talk about my 944T with total reverence.

The BMW next to it in the car park looks a genuine one so he may be in with proper mates and all are true petrol heads but he needs education regarding the front lights [;)]

I am surprised he can actually see where he is going with those tiny lights. The other gulf 944 looks good, I was considering gts light conversion for mine to save a few kgs.

...but isn't a racing car.

That's what I thought at first glance but it does appear to have three scrutineering stickers on the RH side window at least which suggests he's entered some proper motorsport event - surprisingly.

To me it just looks like he didn't know where to stop. I 'm impressed that changing the lights corrects the weight distribution....
