On Rennlist, 38mm TiAL WG for $290 with adapters to bolt straight on: http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/showthread.php?threadid=126233&referrerid=13813

Cheers Fen

I'd taken my eye off Rennlist. Looks like you may have solved my wifes 'what to buy Paul for his birthday' problem [:D]

I want one, anyone else on here going for one?
We might be better off getting them shipped together.

Cheers, Tim.

Yes I wonder how much the shipping to UK will be.

Postage within UK should be reasonable. It can't weigh more than 2 kilos

Well I'm 100% up for it I'm not rennlist subscriber so if anyone else want's to sort it out I'll pay for the UK shipping side of things from your address to mine.

That price is just sooooo cheap.

Cheers, Tim.

The instruction on Rennlist is to go direct to Speed Force Racing and speak to Tim, whoi will deal at the $290 price if you quote the Rennlist group buy.

I know Slim sounds like he's up for it so there's 3, and Tony sounds like he could be convinced. I guess you all contact SFR and ask for the order to be shipped as one...?

I think if they are shipped as one we are more likely to be hit for the duty. If we get them shipped individually and SFR put a low price on the documentation, (after all once they are sold they are second hand and worth much less [;)] ) .I guess it depends how much the shipping for a group is cheaper than individual shipping.

If the shipping is very expensive - anyone fancy a trip to the US for a weekend? [:D][:D]

Tony

I really am wanting one but i am just not sure the finances will allow, its a great price but might have to bow out of this one.

I think Tony may be right, one small package with a value of £160 may skip VAT and import duty, a big heavy one with 5 wastegates worth £800 would almost definately be charged and I think it would be 17.5% vat and 8% import tax plus a small charge from your local Post Office.

I've been looking on the US Postal Service website and come up with these charges for international shipping using 'Airmail Parcel Post' which is a 4-10 day service. I think that a WG cannot weigh more than 2 kilos but I have assumed it weighs 3 just to be safe ( 6 lbs US )

One WG at 6 lbs would cost $35 plus $4.60 for $290 insurance and $1.75 for Return Reciept (which is I think like registered post), so a total of $41.35

Five WG at 30 lbs would cost $107 plus $16.60 for $1450 insurance and $1.75 for Return Reciept (which is I think like registered post), so a total of $125.35 which would be $25.07 each, then you would have whatever cost to forward it on in the UK []

So I think the total cost would be £160 ($290) for the WG and adaptors, plus £23 ($41.35) shipping and the possibility of £41 vat and import duty, giving a worst case grand total of £224 [8D]

I have a headache now [&:]

I've just emailed the guy and asked him what the total should be inclusive of shipping to the UK.

I'll post as soon as he get's back to me.

What spring setting should I go for?

Cheers, Tim.

Can someone give me a contact web page as I'm up for this one.

On a practical point, will the TiAL mean I can remove my Reliaboost valve as well?

I guess it's http://www.speedforceracing.com/

You should ditch the Reliaboost but ideally get a 'blue knob' style manual boost controller like Andrew sell with the DPW kit. I ran my TiAL with no boost controller though so it works, so long as it's got the spring you want in it.

Danno on Rennlist has also posted a diagram on a couple of occasions showing there are three ways to control boost with a Tial (or any dual port wastegate). One of these ways is using the Reliaboost (or Lyndsey Boost Enhancer), the 2nd way is using the 'blue knob' style of manual boost controller.

The third way escapes me just now so you'll have to search on Rennlist [;)]

local porsche specialist recently recommended the Deltagate 42mm (I think) to me - however I have zero knowledge on wastegates and everyone here seems very enthusiastic about the TiAL...

Postage from the USA is $75.00 to the UK making it $365 (£198) delivered plus a possible customs hit

what do you all think?

Still seems a bargain to me, but is there a better wastegate cos I don't want to buy this one and then end up forking out for another.

Don't forget that by getting the Tial you can sell your original.

Tim.

Yes I think this is the best deal we can get just now.

I only know one person who has the TiAL and that is Fen who has the 46mm (I think). The Rennlisters all rave about TiAL products and the 35mm is able to cope with 400 HP at the wheels so approx 450 flywheel which seems plenty to me [:D]

I'm happy with my shimmed WG, but that is a great price (and I can sell my WG afterwards). I'll decide at the weekend, because my credit card cutoff is on Friday, plus if my dyno session is good tomorrow I may be happy with what I already have []

The good thing is we don't actually need a group of us to buy, we can just call up Tim at Speedforce one by one (as you have for the postage quote))

That's just about what I think.

I'll probably order one in the morning. Even if the customs get it and I pay another £50.00 it's still a bargain :)

I need to start a seperate thread about brake upgrades because that's going to have to be my next mod :-(

Tim.

Must admit I am not expecting a big gain over the shimmed WG but may be suprised - I would expect the boost to be held to the red line and possibly increased flexibility. I have a small leak in the exaust pipe from the wastegate so I need to have the wastegate off anyway, so I will probably order one too. The only thing stopping me ordering one already is the 144,000 mile belt change service, where I think a new water pump, thermostats, front end oil seals would also be a good idea and I am too busy at the moment to do some of the work myself so it could be expensive and I really should be saving up for some track time.

Yep, I have the 46mm. Not stictly necessary, but at least I can still claim bragging rights after you lot have all got the smaller ones. Mr Sims has been very quiet on this one, but all the rest of you boostie boys have bitten, I think.
