Track Days

I got a little excited as thought I could have attended this to watch but then realised it's on a monday :(

ORIGINAL: ChasR Hmmmm, too late to put my name into the hat? I guess now would be the time to see how good the car is...
Welcome back Chas, no not too late if you want to go on track, 1 place left if you want it, book via Javelin website but be very quick! There are also a few whoa re just spectating/tyre kicking/passengering so you can just turn up for free (£5 for passenger), will be good to see you again.... Edd

Will, many of us have taken the day off work to do this day, perhaps you could try yourself? Would be great to see you there, its going to be a pretty epic 944 event.... Edd

Unfortunately I wont be at work as such instead I shall hopefully be on a 9 week training course (either starting that day or starting my 2nd week that day) for a new job which doesn't allow any days off during that period.

ye its a long old course, got to temporarily move to Exeter for that time as well. Be interesting to find out if theres any 944 owners around there for a little meet up. Na not the Army though I have been considering the RAF, something else shall say if I make it onto the course dont want to jynx myself :)

will be fine, let everyone go nuts early on,as people wear themselves out thats the time to go out, plus late in the day there is always gold to be had as people get tired and cold and go home.....quieter track[:)]

This track day is now fully booked, big thanks to those who have booked so far, looks like its going to be a pretty busy day! Only 7 weeks to go now. Please show your interest for instruction and post track food on the other threads running. I am trying to organise a couple of things for the day hopefully but will let you know how I get on. Martin, 85 is the maximum Javelin run at Bedford, it was an open day for all and not specific to us, we did quite well to make up half of the attendees though. Those that are new to track driving may find the following useful http://www.separationofcontrols.com/how-to-drive-on-a-track/ ok its from the USA but the principles are the same, a little bit of knowledge can make all the difference and I found the videos quite interesting. Edd

85 cars is a lot but Bedford is a big track, so you can have plenty on the circuit together without it seeming too busy. The last hour of the day is often the best as many people will have packed up by then. I'm more worried about spending too much time chatting & poking about other people's cars and missing out on track time! Looking forward to checking out those JMG gear shifts as mine is a bit loose. Oddly enough it's more of an issue on the road - I think I tend to be a lot more positive with gear selection on the track & have never noticed an issue with it.

Me too, I want to see what the JMG shifts are like. Not all 85 will be on track at once, most of us will be talking!! [:D][:D]

ORIGINAL: Copperman05 Good luck with it, my job had a 17 week course, then 2 years so I know how it feels.[&:] Edd
fair play 17weeks is a damn long course lol! Cheers man. Enjoy the day sounds like its going to be awsome, I shall be envious that day tbh!

The GT circuit at Bedford is over 4 miles long so they will probably be allowing about 40 cars on track at once which will still seem pretty empty if everyone is spread out nicely [:)] As others have said, avoid the busy first hour or so and it should be a good day.

For those that are traveling some distance (driver sign on is from 7:20am-8:30am, briefing at 8:30am) some of you may want to drive up the day before and stay overnight nearby, leaving a short trip to the track in the morning already fed and without an uber early rise. There is a pretty reasonable Country Inn called the [link=http://www.oldenglishinns.co.uk/milton-ernest/]Queens Head[/link] in Milton Ernest that currently has rooms at £40 the night, that's only £20 if you are willing to share a twin, including breakfast. The Inn is only 5 miles from the track has 12 rooms and a pub bar. Edd

Good shout Ed, 100 miles 2hrs 20 mins from mine but on a Monday morning it would be a nightmare journey, more like 3 1/2 hrs Wake up near by, hearty breakfast arrive at circuit relaxed and fresh - don't mean say I will drive any better though [:D]

"Hearty breakfast"? That's not the attitude for a true track-day warrior! You should be starve yourself to shave off those vital extra pounds. Adding lightness = faster lappery! [8D]

ORIGINAL: andy watson It's the perfect excuse for losing vital seconds....too much egg & bacon [:D]
My apologies, you ARE a proper racer... in fact you're getting your excuses for poor performance in before you've even started, just like the real professionals! [8D]
