Track Days

Are we avoiding the subject of the weather? My two usual sources both say rain, one says in the morning and the other in the afternoon. It's going to be cold whatever. As always it will be interesting to see how the forecast changes with time.

Hi James...good point about the weather. After my excursion into the gravel at a wet Brands I may have to take a view on this!

ORIGINAL: craiginuk I'm at Holiday inn Express in Northampton (M1 J15) as it was only 5k points a night.

The forecast for today was pretty crappy, but it was a lovely sunny day (albeit cold), so you never know... I have to be optimistic 'cos my car isn't watertight!!! Mick

Unless it absolutely pours down I dont see a bit of rain or a damp track as that much of an issue, speeds will be slower of course and you will need to take care but I think Bedford is still grippy in the wet and fun can still be had. Lets make it a great day whatever the weather. Edd

We're on the GT circuit, which is basically right around the outside [;)] Weather situation isn't looking particularly great at the moment... Radio forecasts this morning suggest snow above the M4 corridor today, and the Met Office are showing an 80% chance of heavy snow in Bedford for most of Saturday with 30+mph winds and then possible more light snow overnight into Sunday. Temperatures aren't going to get much above freezing (with wind chill bringing things down to about -6 [&:]), so not sure whether the track will even be available come Monday, as there are no events planned there over the weekend, and I presume they don't have any ploughs [:D]!! Let's hope it's not as bad as the forecast says, and we can all have a good day out. Phil

So it's probably looking like 944S weather for me [:(] I wouldn't have just brimmed the washer bottle if I'd have known, that'll cost me precious seconds per lap.

I was really looking forward to seeing the white beast. In all honesty, if theres snow on the roads when I leave Monday Ill turn round and go home, my car is awful in the snow.

Is there anyone local to Bedford that can report on the weather and amount of snow there please? like Phil says above, if snow falls today in any significant amount, it's not going to disappear.[:(]

I spoke to Javelin yesterday, keep an eye on their website if it is to be cancelled everyone will be emailed but they are not expecting the event to be cancelled although it may well be a wet day. Can't be of any more help sorry,

Both weather sites I use currently show Monday in Bedford to be dry. It's going to be chuffing cold but as long as the track isn't actually icy a dry line should start to emerge quite quickly. I did a day at Brands after overnight rain last year and the track dried quickly. It wasn't a warm day but then it wasn't as cold as this either. http://www.metcheck.com/UK/dayforecast.asp?zipcode=bedford&day=2 http://www.accuweather.com/en/gb/bedford/mk40-1/daily-weather-forecast/326932?day=3

I'm in Bedford - Post code MK44 we had snow last night but now all the roads are clear (but wet) and there is about an inch or so sitting on the parked cars. I'll email updates through the weekend!!
