Track Days

20 may is ok for me really disappointed this is off - have been looking forward to it for weeks. glad they called it early before I did any prep work on the car - I wasn't sure how I was going to get the car from its garage back to my house.

20 May works for me - and by then it might even be a bit warmer. Edd - thanks for your hard work so far - it will come good in the end! Right, I'd better go back outside and take the track wheels off the roof rack etc. Keep the faith everyone Mick

Was really looking forward to it - brushed the snow off the car, just wet. Roads and paths here, quiet cul-de-sac, just wet, same as Bedford I believe, as step-daughters father has just come up from there. Gutted for all the drivers - will have to try and get 20th May off now!

I'm going to hedge my position and go to ladbrokes to put some money on snow on may 20 [:D]

When is this winter going to end. My parents live in Northampton, my Mum sent me a picture of the back garden yesterday, several inches of snow. OTOH down here its just been freezing cold and damp for weeks, but again with no end. Its been so bad in fact I haven't got the race car out of the garage since putting it there in November (also been very busy work wise). Lets look on the optimistic side of this one lads. If we keep getting our weather from the east we will have a blistering hot long summer.

Yes many thanks Edd for all your hard work and sorry for the guys who booked hotels, meals and days off work. Even got myself a crash hat. [:(] Still, I fully understand the reasoning and hope May 20th is a goer. Have a good break in Cornwall. You should find some snow or water there! [;)]

ORIGINAL: jmelhuish Just heard. Gutted. Edd, thanks for all your work and I'll see if I can make the 20th. In the meantime is anyone still going to the hotel for dinner and a beer?
Temped as to late to cancel the cancel queens head, plus decided to go and look at a car tomorrow at bury st Edmunds. Just need to check to see if my mate is up for going. Rgds Shawn
Will give queens head a miss, mate is not keen. Cheers to everyone that does still go Shawn

I will have to check the office calendar on Tues to see if 20th May is possible. On the plus side, there's an outside chance I'll have the 944 back by then!

Really wasn't expecting that, had loaded up the car straight after work and then read this thread - oh well, the 20th is good for me too. I remember doing Donington in similar/worse conditions (we had to drive round slowly in convoy to clear the track in the morning IIRC), was great fun although it was a bit dodgy under the bridge on the back straight where it refused to melt all day. Happy days!

Edd - if you're passing through Dorset in your 944 with time to spare on your way to/from Cornwall and want to try one with an additional 100 bhp and a quick-shift kit, feel free to call by my office near Blandford Forum. It's predicted to be dry all week so I plan to use the turbo everyday. Given the effort you put in to arranging the track day, the least I can do is offer you a 944-related way to break up your journey to the South West.

Thanks Ewan, perhaps on the way back.[:)] Thanks to those who have given their appreciation, its not that hard organising this kind of thing, you just need to pull your finger out and do it. Edh and a couple others have also been helping with this don't forget. Please don't organise anything else yet guys as I will need to confirm 20th May as an option first, we may have to use another date so please keep your options open in the short term, I will update you asap. Yes it would have been good to do our track day tomorrow but all is not lost, we may even benefit from kinder weather once spring finally arrives. Edd

Edd...all the hard work and enthusiasm has made the build up to this so exciting. It's much appreciated, and what a good idea to keep the momentum going. I'll check my diary for May! Thanks again.

Well said indeed... Can't wait for the rearranged date as spectator, white-knuckle passenger and potential future participant.

Just spoken to Colin at Javelin. May 20th is an option, perhaps understandably he is unable to keep prices for this event at March levels as he would be out of pocket as the circuit charges a fair whack more at this time of year. He has told me however that for those of us that have booked with PCGB/TIPEC (944 track day) he will freeze the May price at £159 (its about to go up to £179+). This is essentially the same deal we got for Bedford in March. It does mean we pay an additional £30 for the 20th May event. He will also throw in the same garages, etc. Please use the email from Javelin to reply with new choice of date (20th May) stating you booked with PCGB/TIPEC 944 track day and the price will be kept at £159 for you. If you were not booked on the 25th March you will be charged the going rate. I have now confirmed time off work for this date, if May 20th does not suit you can book an alternative event with Javelin. I hope most of you can attend on the 20th May. Edd

I should be good for the 20th, an extra £30 isn't the end of the world. As others have said, your efforts are much appreciated. May should give me plenty of time to leave everything to the last minute and be completely unprepared again.
