Turbo GenII Driving Event at Silverstone

Clive,

Talk about more front than Brighton![;)] I believe Mrs C has booked that seat (also a night on the town in the capital of welsh Wales too[&:])
Think I might just have enough change left over for a lunch at Gidleigh - possibly[;)] Don't know about the narrow lanes around Chagford though.....

Videos like that are likely to interfere with the sleep pattern too.[8D]

Going to interfere with my sleep pattern... and i've not even got one on order [:D]

From rennlist.com re launch control from one of the posters there:

Launch Control (racing start function):

Stress on components increases significantly when driving off at maximum
acceleration in comparison with driving off "normally". In addition, there is a high
temperature burden on the components in the clutches. To protect the components
in this case, this function is disabled for a distance of 1.5 miles (2,5 km)
after a racing start. During the 1.5 miles (2,5 km) drive, the clutches are cooled
with the maximum cooling volume flow.

(see post #12)

That doesn't sound right; implies that you cannot re-engage (get back into) launch control mode, unless having driven 1.5 miles, after having been in 'Launch control' mode- i.e. not as demo'd at Silverstone??

(Or maybe it was cold when we did it, and it's a clutch temperature limitation that decides whether the mode can be engaged- is this temperature monitored in any way?)

As I understand it, from my year or so with the C2S, repeated launches will (obviously) generate a fair bit of heat in the gearbox. There is an over temp protection which will cut in to stop you doing a launch if the oil is too hot. There is also a "warning" in the manual that using it (launch) will reduce the life of the engine and transmission components affected! On the other hand I read somewhere that they tried to test the PDK to destruction and eventually got fed up and went home.[:D]
